Post-Apoc, dark, melancholy?

Any suggestions for music that might help inspire me in this genre? My story is along the lines of sci-fi, steampunk, and post-apoc. I'll go for instrumentals or dubstep or techno, whatever you have that might fit this genre. :)

Maybe try the Suckerpunch soundtrack?
I think there are a few older threads about this, though they may be way back by now. It would be worth looking though, cause I'll I can suggest is thinking up your favorite Post-Apoc or at least melancholy movies and finding their soundtracks on YouTube.

Re: Post-Apoc, dark, melancholy?

When I read the thread title, I immediatly thought of Katatonia. Their style is rather dark, the lyrics are deep - this is the music I've listened to while writing some post-apoc steampunk. Forsaker, The Longest Year and I Am Nothing are three of my favourite songs by them.~
However, if you want something techno, I recommend ULTRAnumb by Blue Stahli. Always wakes me up in the morning. :)
