I'm in need of some good music for listening whilst writing this novella - A Day In My Death. It's a sort of mash-up of zombie horror and steampunk with humour and romance thrown in for good measure. Also, it's sort of Post-Apocalypse but not Apocalypse end of the world; it's more of some societies have collapsed (e.g Britain and America) but others still survive. Can anyone recommend anything?
The decline of civilization as we know it: "Engine of Ruin" by Earth (or, really, anything by that band) "London Calling" by the Clash "The Fall" by Red Hunter "Dead Flag Blues" by Godspeed You! Black Emperor "Dub Housing" by Pere Ubu
Zombie stuff: "They Are Night Zombies!! They Are Neighbors!! They Have Come Back from the Dead!! Ahhhh!" by Sufjan Stevens "Zombie Dance" by the Cramps "Astro Zombie" by the Misfits "Heartbeat" by Wire
General horror: "Subway Song" by the Cure The Drift (album) by Scott Walker "Cold Water" by Old Time Relijun "Good Night, Sleep Tight" by the Bloody Hollies
Steampunk: "Steam Engenius" by Modest Mouse "The Strongest Man in the World" by Menomena
All-around goodness: Bone Machine (album) by Tom Waits Blood Mountain (album) by Mastodon
Good Steampunk/Zombie Music

Re: Good Steampunk/Zombie Music
You've got great taste.
Re: Good Steampunk/Zombie Music
Thanks for all the suggestions; particularly like London Calling and Dead Flag Blues (:
Re: Good Steampunk/Zombie Music
Thriller by Micheal Jackson
Monster Mash
What's that coming over the hill, is it a monster?
Hehe
Re: Good Steampunk/Zombie Music
"Aim For The Head" by Creature Feature for humour/zombies.
Re: Good Steampunk/Zombie Music
Thanks for introducing me to this song and band! I think I might possibly have had it stuck on replay for the last few days... /: (;
Re: Good Steampunk/Zombie Music
Unhallowed Land by Vernian Process.
Re: Good Steampunk/Zombie Music
War Stories - Unkle. The whole album works. It kinda sounds like a soundtrack for a zombie flick to me.
Joan Crawford - Blue Oyster Cult... It's about a zombie.
A lot of stuff by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club would work for the steam punk.
Re: Good Steampunk/Zombie Music
Gah, a correction to my post. It's called Unhallowed Metropolis.
Re: Good Steampunk/Zombie Music
Pretty much anything by Apocalyptica would nail zombie/post apocalyptic on the head, but especially try their album "Cult".
Re: Good Steampunk/Zombie Music
For the steampunk theme, "Counter Clockwise" by the group Thanatopsis.
Re: Good Steampunk/Zombie Music
"Boom (Zombie Communications 101)" by Victim Effect
Oh, gotta love that one . . .
Re: Good Steampunk/Zombie Music
For humorous zombies: Undead Anthem, from one of Radical Face's earlier music projects. He's kindly put it up for free download on his website. :)
Re: Good Steampunk/Zombie Music
The Sherlock Holmes soundtrack has a fun steampunk feel. You might like to check out the track "Discombobulate."
