Best Pens/Pencils/Crayons

For all you handwriters.. what is your favorite wriitng apparatus?

I like a pen that's juicy, a little weighty and a little thick for my achy fingers. Right now I'm a fan of Bic's 730R gel pens and the smooth flow ballpoint Bics and Papermates.Sometimes I'll use a Staedtler for the color options, but the barrel's too thin for a long writing day.

I'm eyeing the fancy Cross pens but it's hard to tell whether they'd be comfortable for the long-distance haul or how they write. Does anyone use these?

I've got a Cross fountain pen I got for Christmas a couple of years ago. It's very nice and, yes, I've carried it around while travelling and it writes beautifully. But if you've going to invest in a fountain pen you've gotta test them out. See how the weight feels, see if you like the nib, etc. Go to a store and try the ones you're interested in. If the store won't let you test them then go elsewhere.

My favourite pens of the less fancy variety are various Uniball rollerball and gel pens. Especially the Vision Elite, though I'm having a bit of an affair with the Signo 207 just now.

Lamy fountain pens.

I just got a new ink that I totally love. Its a teal blue-black ink that has a nice bloom effect if you write with it on paper designed to absorb ink.

Ten years ago when I was in France, my friends and I found our way into a hypermarket and discovered the pens section. Now for those of you unaware, in Europe fountain pens and ink cartridges are used all the time by everyone, and they are cheap as hell. (Ink that would cost a few Euro in France would cost me upwards of $30 here in NZ.) So we bought up large. One of the cheap-ass pens I bought, for about 10 euro, is a plastic job with a fine Waterman nib (I didn't even notice the brand until a couple of years ago). It writes like a dream and feels perfect in my hand. I love it to bits.

My second favourite is a retractable uniball signo 0.5 black gel. I am very particular about this and I am grumpy lately because 0.5s have become hard to find >.>

I recently brought a Pilot G2 (0.7) in Peacock Green. The pen itself is actually rather nice for a pen of this type; I don't like the clip on it, but it's comfy to use so win.

The thing I love about it the most is the colour; peacock green is a teal like. blue/green and it's BEAUTIFUL. Once I've narrowed my pen collection down a bit more I might have to stock up on some pens with this ink colour.

i got a pelican pelikano fountain pen for christmas, and i love it. i'm only on my first ink cartridge but it flows perfectly whether i write in cursive or print. before that, my primary writing tool was a bic ball point fine pen. but i don't think ill ever go back now

I just discovered fountain pens and my grandfather discovered some of my great-uncle's fountain pens that he had in a junk drawer. I am absolutely in love. I have four now, including the three vintage ones that were my great-uncle's (a Sheaffer Admiral [green], a Sheaffer Pen for Men [black], and an Esterbrook Double Jewel [red]) and a Noodler's Ahab Flex [blue, white, and black swirled]. I think I may have a problem with coveting now, because I wish I could buy all of the ink colors I could get my hands on. I don't think I'll be ever going back to normal pens again. Fountain pens make me too happy. I have actually pulled a face the few times I have had to use a "normal" pen since last November. :D

I have a Pilot Vector but it isn't the most comfortable. I prefer pilot g2's in green or blue.

Pencil-wise the Pentel Sharp Kerry is the most comfortable pencil I've used. It's pricey though. :(
The Pentel Energize is pretty good too.
