Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate it! I got a Samsung Stratosphere for Christmas to replace my old ENV3 -- my first smartphone! Now, on my old phone, I used to write on the go using my phone through text messages. I'd write on a blank text message and save it to my drafts folder and worked fine.

The problem is, my new phone does not appear to have a draft box, which means I need to find a new quick and dirty way to write when snippets pop into my head. I just want to be able to pull out my phone, jot something down, and pocket it again. So now I'm wondering, maybe there is an app for that? Is there some kind of free notepad application that I can plop on my home page and use that? I'm just curious as to what you all use, if you use your phone to write spontaneously like I do!

That's an Android phone, you have access to the whole app market. Evernote is free, you can install it on both your phone and your computer, and it syncs your notes between them. There are also a lot of other notes and writing apps. Just open the market, search under writing app or notes apps, and see what's free.
