Help regarding alternative pen suggestions

Hiya.

So, recently, I've fallen in love with the Bic Cristal Gel pens (medium preferably because the barrels are so big) - but, I can't seem to find them in shops anymore, only online in boxes of 20 or so. (Typical - I find something I love and then it vanishes.) I think I love them because the blue is so bright and they write so smoothly.

I was wondering if any of your pen enthusiasts had any other recommendations for something that is close to the previously mentioned pen?

I've heard that the Bic Atlantis is quite good - is that any similar?

Thankies!

It would be if the UK had an Office Depot.

The UK kinda sucks most of the time... XD

You could try Viking Direct, which is part of Office Depot, but geared towards small businesses, sole traders and individuals, rather than the big business accounts Office Depot does. Office Depot does exist in the UK, but I don't think they have stores, it's all direct to business.

And of course Cult Pens is always a good place to find new pens to try.

I'm a massive fan of Cult Pens - but they don't do Bics otherwise I'd get them from there. I have discovered a ton of new gel pens I like though. I might have to hunt around in the ballpoint sections of Cult Pens a little more, write down names of ones that might apply and then go try them in Staples or something.

I haven't heard of Viking Direct before, but I'll have a look there, too, thanks!

So, a wee update. I got my hands on a pack of three of the Bic Atlantis and, whilst they are good for jotting down notes they just feel too... Loose I believe would be the right term. Almost like the pen wasn't put together properly? Either way, they're not like the Bic Cristal which saddens me :(

I suppose the closest thing to the Bic Cristal would be... Actual gel pens. Or, the Pilot B2P Recycled Gel Roller (the pen that looks like a water bottle) - but those are pricey too. However, they do feel good and write well AND they can be refilled with the same refills as the Pilot G2 - thus increasing their range of colours.

Hi are you talking about the Bic Cristal Gel stick pen? I found them here, in California, at Big Lots but only in black....I also like writing in blue. I am going to see if some other Big Lot stores carry them. Would you like me to send you some of these pens even though they are black ink? Any chance you have come across the Cello Superglide pen in blue ink?

Hanaa :)

I'll have to try some of the Bic pens. If I have a pen that feels comfortable in my hand, I'm more likely to write than if I have an uncomfortable pen that causes hand cramping.

I got some Papermate Inkjoys the other day. Biro like in appearance but gel ink. They seem to be a good enough substitute for now I think. Plus they have a cushioned grip! YAY!

I really swear by my Uniball Jetstream Rollerball pen. I'm known for getting cramps because of how hard I drag my pen across the page when I write, and of course that becomes a massive setback when you're trying to get words down. But then I discovered this pen when I was at college and it's become my firm favourite. I used to go through Bic pens like there was no tomorrow, and I too used to buy them in bulk, but now I couldn't see myself using any other pen.

I also use them for drawing as they create such a smooth experience, I never drag on lines, and the ink is fantastic.

Uniball is such a great brand. Actually... I don't know if I have any of their pens hanging around. Shame on me... It's all Pilots and Pentels. Oh, hang on! I found a fanthom. I think that's it XD (and even then, the fathom isn't that great. Nice ink, not so great in the erasable stakes.)

It seems I'm more of a Pilot pen fangirl XD
