I'm so glad someone else gets ideas from dreams too. Don't get me wrong, I knew if I was doing it there had to be others, but.. you know, it just sounds so loopy to say "it came to me in a dream". At least to me. So thank you for saying it first! :)
Heehee, maybe it depends on your dreams... mine often are totally loopy (although, of course, they make perfect sense at the time), so maybe that's why I'm a bit shy about admitting to getting ideas from them. Although, I suppose they are my ideas already, which is... actually, that's even more worrying now I think about it.
My 'ahah!' came recently with the addition of fungi as the main food source for my scifi world.
Then came the creatures that ate the fungi, and then the creatures that at the creatures that ate the fungi. Like the Rain Bat, which is a blind nocturnal omnivorous creature thats happens to make a pretty good pet. Or the great Fungi whales that dive into the mist and eat take huge mouthfuls of the stuff. Or the mist farmers who live and work down in the depths of the mist and farm the Fungi to feed the rest of the population, (they die young from chest infections, the air being constantly saturated with water.) Then ooooh the fungi forests, with fungi sharks and tiger and bears, oh my?
Working out my ballerina's needed daily calorie intake led to her talking a lot to the boy she likes (first about her lack of eating disorder, then about how her rich grandparents are funding her lessons). 1000 words, cha-ching! Also it's given me two more events to include in the second half of my novel, which is running really low on plot so far.
Ahah! I've got it!
Pretty much as the title says, post here if you've finally got 'it'. Whether it is a plot hole fix, characterization issue, even the perfect name.
In my case, I've finally found the right title for my novel: Invisible Friends
Re: Ahah! I've got it!
No title, but a long, rambling dream gave me the bulk of my plot. Now all I have to do is convert it to something that makes sense...
Re: Ahah! I've got it!
That. Is. Awesome.

Re: Ahah! I've got it!
I get so many ideas from dreams, I don't see why it's embarrassing to say so. Your dreams are you imagination unbound. It's epic! WEEEE DREAMS

Re: Ahah! I've got it!
I have absolutely nothing, but a drive to start with nothing on Nov 1 and see what happens.
Re: Ahah! I've got it!
Thumbs up, Like, +1 and good luck!
Re: Ahah! I've got it!
I have my two 'voices' (his name is Lucky, but it's not his real name, and her name is Mona), and a title, but that could change.
I think I have a pretty good plot outline too, but we'll see how that goes when Nov 1 rolls around. *Shudders in antici.........pation"

Re: Ahah! I've got it!
I came up with some ideas yesterday before being distracted by designing a radially symmetrical chordate which had no role in my book.
Re: Ahah! I've got it!
I'm sure you'll find somewhere to put it. Either that or it can become the main character if anyone ends up having to write World of Lovecraft.
Re: Ahah! I've got it!
Ahh! I haven't got it!
Only 45 hours and 26 minutes to find it :S
Re: Ahah! I've got it!
That's still loads of time! :)
Re: Ahah! I've got it!
However... I still don't quite "have" it, lol - I have a character, but she's keeping me in the backseat atm and I don't know where she's driving us!
Re: Ahah! I've got it!
I've got it! I'll drop acid and write like a word count spree killer!
Re: Ahah! I've got it!
Apparently my novel needed an African American journalist built like a tank and a dinosaur cab driver. Who knew?
