I recently self-published my novel on several (scam-free) websites including Amazon CreateSpace, Lulu.com and smashwords.com! If you feel really overwhelmed by the publishing industry, self publishing is a cheap and relatively easy way to go! Of course, you are the one who has to format your book for publishing, do all the editing, etc. That is a lot of work, but seems worth it if your book has the chance to become popular. eBook publishing is also a great way to go because you have less formatting to do, you can charge less, and you get MUCH higher royalties than in standard publishing. I know this might seem like an advertisement, but I'm just suggesting an option. I hope mine works out well!

I've got 3 books self-published and I agree. It is simple enough for me to do (and I'm not a techie). All the control is in your hands, but so is all the responsibility so if you can't put on a business hat, it probably isn't for you. If you can however, I recommend you give it a try.

Just as a note, participants can promote their self-published novels in the Marketing forum, but we ask that they not be advertised outside of that forum. :)

Thanks everyone! Just go to my profile: the title is there. I don't want to break marketing rules. :)

Much appreciated. :) And telling people to head to your profile for more is just fine!
