I got a random text this morning from my fiance that said, "Yes i'm still awake, i forgot u were gonna do that." Not only would it not make sense at 8 a.m., but he doesn't use the letter "u" in texts. I replied and asked him if he'd meant to text someone else, and he had no idea what I was talking about. Turns out he didn't send such a text to me or anyone. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Is this actually possible? I know there are sites you can use to prank-text people, but this would be a pretty lame text prant if that was the goal.
I haven't had that happen, but I've had phones do weird things. My ex had a phone that occasionally wouldn't register a call, even though the person calling could hear it ringing and it even went to his voice mail. Strangely, the calling phone also wouldn't have a record of it. He didn't believe that was possible, until he got in trouble at work for not answering his phone or returning the message they'd left, and comparison of both call histories again showed no such call.
That's kind of the opposite of your problem, but sometimes phones can mess up. I don't know how that could result in a stranger's text going to you seemingly from your fiance's phone, though. Could someone have grabbed his phone, thinking it was theirs, and tried to send a text to someone they knew with your name? It's kind of a stretch, but considering the content of the message it would be pretty stupid to send as a prank.
Did he ever text you a similar message? I know one time when I was bored I texted this random fact to a friend one time, it ended up resending itself either every day or every week until I deleted the text and other than the first one I had no record of it.
Yeah, actually...my father got like, six texts, apparently from me, one day, they all said things like "hi dad" or things like that. Thing is, I was working at the time, and I don't call him 'dad'. o_O None of them were in my outbox, but they were definitely on his phone, and they definitely came from my number. Weird.
It is just a glitch or malfunction with the phone. It's kind of like with e-mail, you know, sometimes your e-mail account will send out balnk e-mails to random people in your contacts. That happened to me once. Then I had also heard about something on the news that was related to the Smartphones. The server that handled the Smartphone texts became so overloaded that it would assign one person's name to another person's text and send it out to the first person's receiving phone(the person that the first person was trying to contact). Technology is awesome, but it makes life so much more difficult.

Is the text in his cell phone's outbox? If it is, someone used his phone to send the text. If not... then it's way beyond me.

I know my mom got a text from my grandpa's phone only to have him deny that he even knew how to use that feature.
