Order from my cafe menu!

Hello everyone,

I need your help with something that will only take a few minutes of your time. I am working on a project for one of my final classes in culinary school, and am set to graduate soon.

Below are a couple of mock menus for a bakery-cafe concept. I need 100 orders so that I can generate sales reports and the like. There is one menu for breakfast items and breads, and another for lunch items and pastries. Please take a moment to look at both, and tell me what you would order for breakfast, lunch, or snacks as a customer. Also, if you have any feedback on the menus it will be appreciate.

(Even though the drinks are listed on the breakfast menu, they will be available all day.)

Breakfast - Breakfast banana split (omg I want one now!!)
Breakfast Drink - English breakfast tea.
Lunch - Ham & cheddar panini
Lunch drink - Hot chocolate
Snacks - a slice of apple pie!

Hope it helps!

Let's see...

Off of the breakfast menu, I would have... I don't know! They all sound so good and are making me hungry! Okay, snap out of it! I would order the cinnamon roll and a cup of tea. I would be asked what kind of tea I would want, and I would say, "Surprise me!" Indecision strikes again.

As for lunch, I would go with the ham and cheddar panini, and I would have latte to drink with it. If I had room afterwards, I would order a slice of key lime pie for dessert. Seeing how I would most likely NOT have room afterwards, I would just order a whole pie to take home with me.

...Seriously, I'm really hungry now after going over you menus.

Re: Order from my cafe menu!

Suggestions: use whole prices (like $3.00 and $1.50); list what comes with the breakfast items (can you get sausage or bacon with your waffles or pancakes? toast with your omelet? is there an additional cost for these items if they are available?). Same for the Lunch menu.

Don't like the colors. Prices are good, except for the whole loaves of bread. $5.00 is on the pricey side unless it's gluten-free. Also the cookie price seems high unless they are big cookies. Same for the panini unless they are large or come with a side. All price comments are relative though. In your area those may be fantastic prices.

For breakfast I'd order a blueberry muffin and milk.
For lunch I'd have the Roast Chicken and Provolone panini and a bottle of soda.
For a snack I'd have either a chocolate chip cookie or a piece of apple pie, depending on my mood.

Re: Order from my cafe menu!

I agree with the comment about using whole prices - the way it is now almost looks as though the last numbers got forgotten.
I like the set up of the menu but am wondering if the orange is such a good choice. I know colors are different when they are actually printed out, but just by looking at them on the screen they are kind of bright. (And personally I'd change To drink: to Beverages)

Okay, now as for my order:)

Breakfast: Almond Muffin with either hot chocolate or a Cappucino (pumpkin spice or cinnamon) (Maybe offering a seasonal fruit cup/bowl would be good too?)

Lunch: Either a house salad or a roast chicken with provolone panini followed by a slice of key lime pie. Most likely would stick to just water.

Having carried out an experiment last year I can say with complete certainty that some people would really appreciate some gluten free options. I've seen in a few menus where, when they didn't have a seperate list for gluten free they did have little icons next to certain dishes that were gluten free. (Same goes for dairy free, though I think those are a little harder to do.)

Good luck on your project!

Breakfast: croissants and banana split (yes, both; I'm a hungry little creature, why do you ask?^^), with either a cup of tea (Earl Grey) or a cappuccino.

Lunch: Caesar salad and a coke (normal kind; no way in hell I'll ever drink diet coke).

Snacking: chocolate cake with coffee (summer) or apple pie with hot chocolate (winter). Depends on the weather.

About the prices: The only thing I found rather expensive was the bread; 5$/loaf is a lot. As for the rest: Holy crap, lunch for as little as 6.5$?! I would SO go there, that's a bloody bargain oO

Fair point on the bread, I''ll change that.

But I will say that most of the prices are a bargain compared to other places in my area. I live in the middle of a big tourist town, and places like to capitalize on that. One bakery where I used to work sold paninis for $9.50 and coffee for $3.25.

Now you know why you need to give discounts to the locals. The big problem with tourist towns is that they tend to be seasonal. That's the time to gouge 'em. But once that season is up, it's mostly locals, and they're the ones that know the good deals in the area.

Don't mess with the locals, for they know the lay of the land.

Breakfast Banana Split, but I'd be REALLY curious to try the brown sugar and bacon biscuit (I'm not from America, so I'd be really curious to try most anything, hehe) So perhaps I'd order both; one for later. That would be with one of the teas (likely Japanese Sencha) or a Pumpkin Spice Latte.

Lunch:
Ham & Cheddar Panini, likely with a soda.

Snack:
I'd probably order a Key Lime Pie, and a White Chunk, Coconut & Macadamia Cookie for later.

This menu souds good! *hungry, and wants interesting American foods now...*

I'd go for an omelette for breakfast - the rest is just too sweet for me. That said, unless I'm on holiday, I never eat breakfast out, that's the one meal I will always eat at home.
And for lunch definitely the Ceasar Salad!
For drinks it would have to be a Diet Coca Cola - I don't drink anything else.

As for prices, well, I'm in Europe, and while I can do the conversions, I wouldn't know about what a normal price would be in your area, so I'll leave that for now.
