There's this competition and I might be representing my school
I case anyone doesn't know what it's about: It's a competition where we go on stage and give a speech (well, not really formal kind) on things... Life, teens or whatever except sensitive issues...
I would want suggestions on what to speak about... It must be something relevant to teenage life, and close to heart... (something like inner beauty or self-confidence)
Wow, yet another topic about someone participating in some kind of speech competition. When I was still at school we once visited one of those. There's one topic I remember someone talked about that had quite an impact on the audience: femal genital mutilation. I don't know if that's still a big issue or not but it sure is a difficult but important topic.
Queerness isn't relevant to a typical teenage life? Even those who aren't queer themselves are going to encounter queerness at some point, and many will react badly because they don't know any better. And many of those people are going to end up discovering they're queer themselves. Questioning and coming out is *very* relevant to a typical teenage life.

So... anyone wanna lend me some hands?
Please and thanks~
Re: Speaking Competition Theme
Does queerness count as a "sensitive issue"? Because that would be what I would talk about.
Re: Speaking Competition Theme
Try pro-life/choice issues.
Whatever side it's a sensitive issue.
Re: Speaking Competition Theme
...And, I might add, what with the commonness of teen pregnancies nowadays, pretty relevant.

Well, I like all that special ideas but I don't think it's relevant to a typical teenage life...

Re: Speaking Competition Theme
How about the desire to be popular and how everyone is always being mean and pushing everyone down to get to the top?
