No joke, she died suddenly--the cause of death is unconfirmed at the moment. She of the heavenly voice.

Another great artist dies young. *sighs* What gives?

Rest in Peace, Soul sister.

Given the way she abused her body, it's a minor miracle she made it nearly to 50. But sad, yes.

I know. Very sad. I feel for her daughter and the rest of her family.

I couldn't believe it, and Jennifer Hudson's tribute to her at the Grammys left me speechless.

I wasn't much of a Whitney Houston fan, but when I saw it I was like "OH MY GOD!"

Don't want to say it, but I wouldn't be surprised if drugs were somehow involved.

To be honest, when I first heard about her death, I thought "I'm not going to believe it unless I'm told that this didn't originate from Twitter." Twitter likes saying people are dead.

I must say that I'm really annoyed with New Jersey right now. They're flying flags at half-mast for her, and not the soldiers who sacrifice their lives for our freedom.

Cavaliere Errante

Oh wonderful, fly flags halfmast for yet another drug-addicted, alcoholic celebrity who probably died due to mixing the two, but ignore the twenty-nine soldiers who have died since the first of the year. The US really is a great place to live, really it is.

Don't get me wrong, I feel for Houston's family, that is a horrible way to lose a loved one and any death in the family is hard. But I wish instead of harassing her family and the media acting like just a week prior to her death they weren't gossipping about her drug and alcohol problems and essentially calling her a washed up slut, they would say she's dead and leave it at that. Camera crews stalking her family seriously cannot be helping them through the grief.

Agreed, all around.

It's tragic, and one can only wonder what may have troubled a beautiful young woman of such amazing talent to abuse and let herself be abused to such extent. With her we lost a true icon of the 80's.
