What My Friends Say...What My Friends Do

This actually pertains to only one friend, my sassy gay friend (but not obviously gay friend)

Several people have asked us if we're dating, since they've started asking we've started realizing why they're asking. So what did we say last night when the whole of Anime Club found out we WERE NOT dating? "We should start distancing ourselves."

What we did instead:
"Monday and Wednsday after night class we'll work on signing "Don't Unplug Me", Thursday before Anime Club will be Merlin night, Friday we'll have our crochet lessons with Princess Dango Maker, Saturday from 12-3 we'll dance together, plan routines for stuff and the like, Saturday night we'll have our usual movie night with the rest of the boys and Sunday night we'll go to swing dancing."

Yes, because that's totally distancing ourselves. To be fair, I don't think we're going to eat lunch and dinner together too often anymore and we saw each other every day last semester so not seeing him every day is really weird. On the plus side, between sword fighting, dancing with Dan, swing dancing, my Lenten sacrifice of soda and my Lenten promise to eat more salads and less cheeseburgers (because let's face it, the cheeseburgers are the only thing this school can get right) I should actually be able to watch the pounds melt off. Especially because swing dancing is from like 8-midnight.

addendum: So do you guys have anything where you and your friends said one thing and then did something completely different? Doesn't have to be as weird as mine (heck it could be weirder!)

Let me say this--just because Everyone Else thinks you two are dating and you're not is no reason to "distance" yourself. You're obviously friends for a reason, and what other people think shouldn't dictate how much time you spend with him.

You want weirder? One of my friends suggested, on a night when she was sleeping over, that we should try dating. She said she was attracted to me and wanted to see how it went. I was okay with this. Then the next morning she said she couldn't do it because she still had confused feelings for a guy at her college. (We are no longer friends, which has nothing to do with that. She just came out years later and said she didn't love me as a friend anymore. :/ )

Re: What My Friends Say...What My Friends Do

Yeah I know that, he just didn't want to hurt my chances of finding a boyfriend/potential husband. It finally ended up coming down to how much we both valued our happieness. We went through some seriously tough and confusing times together and were a big help to each other. In the words of Harry Potter "There's some things, like fighting a fully grown mountain troll, that you can't go through without becomeing friends." We live on a campus where snuggling is basically equated to sex and we're both very snuggly so it's nice having someone to snuggle with who doesn't think it's the super modest equivalent of sex. He came out to three of our other friends while we were dyeing our hair and at least Gina and I have agreed he's an honorary girl.

Besides, without me Dan would loose his only link to his potential future boyfriend (my ex).

There's no reason to distance yourselves. My sister and her friend are close, and so everyone for a long time (and, in fact, some still do) thought they were going to hook up. No, people, they're just good friends.

What. Screw everyone else. Be friends as close as you like if you want to. Just because people are stupid doesn't mean you have to end your friendship.
Gee, really now *facepalm*

Ouch, Sounds like mine.
One of my best friends is bisexual and she's madly in love with this guy. But the other day, she told me she might possibly be in love with me too. But isn't sure because of this other guy. This is also the girl I've helped survive bulimia, cutting, depression, and breakups. She came back the next day and said that she was stupid for saying that and that she was just confused becuase this other guy was driving her crazy.
We haven't really spoken since, but I sit behind her in something like five classes, so we have this nice awkward silence. But she's still really huggy when she sees me, but then she'll just run off.

Any ideas?

Wow, that's a bit of a pickle. Um... eh.... er...

Yeah, I don't know. I've never really been in such a situation myself. I'm trying to think of something useful to tell you, but I'm drawing a blank with a Number 2 pencil. Either way, I hope things get normal again for you and your friend.
