Help with Genre http://www.nanowrimo.org/en/forums/other-genres/threads/36766 Chalula88 What genre is my novel? It is a first person narrative of a ten year old girl. She has an imaginary friend that she believes is real, which helps her cope with abuse and a difficult life. The content of the book is very heavy, but told through the eyes of a semi-delusional child. Readers would know what's real and what's not, but the narrator herself does not. What genre would it be? Well...there are parts that are thrilling, but I don't think it would appeal to a thriller audience at all. It's more dramatic than anything. Other than her believing this one character exists that doesn't, it's a dark drama, granted she spends a lot of time with this non-real character (about 1/2 to 3/4 of the book).
