[Camp NaNoWriMo] Does Anyone Else Not Have Their Plot Ready?

Does anyone else not have their plot(or plots, if you're doing more than one Nano or multiple stories in one Nano)? I just really kind of put more thought into doing Camp today, and then I realized something: I don't have any kind of plot whatsoever. I know that I still have time to get them.(I'm planning on doing multiple stories in one Nano). However, it's still scary because I know some people already have everything almost, including their outline. It hasn't even started, and I already kind of feel slightly behind.

You are certainly not alone! *eyes her completely blank notebook sadly*

I'm doing the 'multiple stories during Camp' as well, but that's about as far as I've managed to get. I can't decide if I want to use the same cast for each story or even if I want to stay in the same universe! (Think anthology as opposed to TV show).

Due to the last minute announcement of Camp in 2011 I sort of faceplanted into July—but I still came out with a workable story in the end. But I really want to try and plan something out and it's driving me nuts that I can't think of anything to plan!

I need a Muse Magic-8 Ball or something… >.<;;

You're definitely not alone. It's unlikely I'll know what I want to write until the day or so before the event starts... I've always written like that. It's probable that I'll rebel and continue a WIP, but I don't know which one that will be.

I have...nothing. At this point Camp is too far away for me to even think about. Outlining doesn't really work for me. If I outline too little I feel like my story is weak and if I outline too much I feel like I've already written the book so why bother actually writing it. It's best if I go in with a working idea and no more than three or four bullet points and characters. Problem is, not having an idea yet stresses me out and I start thinking of failure already. Must stop that! I'm also trying to do both Camps so now I need two plots. Oh boy.

I feel like I've digressed. Anyway: no, I do not have anything planned yet. :D

I have an idea but not really a plot yet. I'm trying to finish the one from Nano 2011 that's taking up all the room in my head! Hope to have it finished soon as I have lots of planning to do! I'm wanting to do both camps so I have to get going on plotting, characters, etc.

maybe next month I'll have some time.

I mean I really would like to have my plots now because then I could do my "rough"/*"Because why" outlining. I'm planning of changing genres slightly. I usually write romance stories, but I'm thinking of writing something that's Fantasy but still has romantic elements. I haven't really written a Fantasy story before, and I'm working on one now just to see how it goes. (I didn't set up an outline for this story yet; I'm just seeing where it goes.) I feel kind of nervous and excited. I'm nervous because this my first real time stepping out of my comfort zone, and I feel excited because it's something new.

* - I call it "Because why" because I have set goal for how the story ends and I just ask myself repeatedly how I got there. I'm trying to rough outlining so I don't become bored with the stories that I use this kind of outlining for. I usually write short stories that range at about 2000 words or a little more without outlining, and I want to start writing things beyond that. I don't mind if it's technically a novelette or novella not a novel. A small step is still a step.

Try the "Adopt a Plot" thread. There are hundreds of ideas on there by now, and even if you're not the kind of person who likes to work with an idea generated by someone else, maybe it'll spark an idea for you. You could also try the "Adopt a Character" thread and get your cast, and let them tell you their stories.

Is that a forum or a thread? I can check it out. I don't mind using a plot generated by someone else. I tend to use generators anyway. I also tend to change and alter them to the way I see fit too. So, it would help me. Thanks. Are the plots there just random threads, or are they broken up by genre?

It's in the "Adoption" forum, along with all the other "Adopt a..." threads. Here's the link:

It's a lot to wade through, with 1304 replies, but there's some really good stuff on there.

I've got nothing. >.< I don't even know how July or August will turn out for me, so I'm not even sure if I'll be participating. I had to drop out of NaNo this (last, actually) year. I'm a mess at planning. Speaking of which, I've got a short story for a contest that's due in less than three hours... :/ I might end up winging Camp NaNo.

Note that this year, camp is during June and August - got me confused for a bit there too. :)

I definitely have no idea what I'm writing. I try not to think of things too far in advance, or I won't be able to keep the spark of energy that will propel me through the first draft. So I deliberately wait until pretty close to last minute to find my idea. I'm not a planner though - I find that cramps my writing too much. A couple good hot showers when we get closer to June will be just fine. I seem to get all my best ideas in the shower.

(I wish there were waterproof notebooks. xD)

I don't know what I will write at Camp NaNo, too. It is still so far away - first I have to figure out what I'll write for Scripty Frenzy, and even there I only have some vague ideas and am unsure which to choose.
I usually come up rather late with my plot but surprisingly last year I had my idea for Camp NaNo already back in January ... ok, in January I did not know that there was Camp Nano, I considered it as an idea for NaNo 11 but then Camp came along :)
But I definitely will do Camp NaNo again this year, it is awesome.

Same. I'm doing a NaNo now, so idk if I'll have anything set for SF, let alone Camp. Might just wing it in June.

I've been thinking up a plot, but I don't think I can hold off until June. That's too many months of not writing. Though I still have three NaNo' s from last year to edit. D:
So I'm likely going to have to think up another one. I'm not very good at the pantster approach, so I hope it doesn't come to that. I have a few ideas floating around somewhere that I might be able to use. At least I have plenty of time. Either way, something is going to get written this Camp NaNo :D

Yeah. I still have time. I'm just transitioning to another genre. So, I'm working on two pieces right now to see how I like the genre, and hopefully I'll have myself a plot by then. I'm hoping I will. I really want to do June, not August. Mostly because I think I will be really busy during August. So, something will come along hopefully.

You're not alone. I have nothing either. I just know one month will be a 'sequel' of sorts in my fantasy world that I love to dawdle in ... while the other month may be a story in a completely new world based on an idea I had. As for characters, plots, and outlines, got nothin' over here just yet.

All I know is that one of the months I want to try and finish my nano novel from 2010...

Earthsick

I have a vague idea.
But that's alright. I have a lot more stuff on my plate right now that I need to focus on. If my nerve problems get better until Script Frenzy I'll rebel and edit my November 2011 stuff since I suck at script writing. :) Let's see about camp Nano though. I'd like to do a shorter sequel for camp.

Let's see. Today is day thirteen of the year. June 1st is day one hundred and fifty three. I have about a hundred and forty days to come up with something. Or several somethings.

No problem. I'm likely to continue the set of short stories I started for last Camp. I just need to finish the one I got part way through so I can start fresh.

I have a premise, but no plot. It's too early for me to freak out about it though.

I have a genre and nothing else. But there is plenty of time yet, isn't there? *eyes calendar*

I have nothing planned, but I am thinking on doing a kind of prequel to my last NaNo.

you kidding me? Of COURSE I dont have anything planned! And i won't until the time comes!

planning that far ahead just isn't me. even if i did, things change including story ideas. i'd be rewriting everything time and time again until that date comes.
