Writing Taarof - Help?

Hey, all. I seem to be asking for help more often without ever reciprocating the assistance. I'll definitely try to be remedying that in future. Until then, though, I throw myself on your mercy again and ask for help. XD

I've recently been researching Iranian and Persian culture. I came across the concept of taarof. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taarof ) As much as I like it, and as much as it would work in the context of the society I'm trying to create, I'm a little unsure as to how to get it to work between characters.

I live in Australia. I've been raised to be blunt and honest. This sort of verbal wordplay is a little beyond me.

If you could give some examples of taarof, and in how to engage characters in it without it becoming overly long and boring, it would be highly appreciated!

Sure. I've seen others do it in my regional forum. Last year, someone came in and asked what a hurricane was like in this area, since their characters were going to be driving through one.
