Give all the guards ear protection and blare distracting noises, or flash strobe lights, or mix drugs that impair focus into the food, or work systematic sleep deprivation into the torture. If they can't concentrate, they can't do magic. Someone might manage to overcome this eventually (and in the process they'd probably become almost impossible to distract under non-prison conditions), but I'm guessing it would take a while. However, in my world, I am using the word "warlock" because I am not thinking of another name for a male witch (I don't want to use wizard or mage), and a billion other books/shows/movies use the term "warlock," so I don't think it's that big of deal. And seeing as how witches were for a very long time persecuted and looked at as aides of the devil in the olden days (sometimes still are by certain groups), "warlock" could have very much applied to them. Eventually, the term began losing its original meaning, and is no longer viewed that way by most people. Besides, it's my own made-up world. I am pretty much its almighty god, so I make up the rules.
