Alien Jobs?

I have an alien who needs a job. He is rich, and travels from planet to planet. He also owns many houses around his galaxy, and good social connections. Whenever I try to think of a job the only thing that comes to my mind is mailman (like Futurama) or drug dealer, but neither of those fit the personality. Please help!

Owner of an galactic corporation. He leaves most of the running of the company to the board of directors and goes from planet to planet to inspect, do research (checking out the culture firsthand to get ideas for new products or changes to existing ones), factory inspections, etc.
Travel writer, possibly wealthy due to inheritance.
Negotiator (corporate or government), specializing in deals/treaties between different alien species. Very specialized and high profile so it pays well.
Lawyer specializing in cases involving multiple aliens species/cultures. May also specialize in defending those who unwittingly break the law (probably unknowingly) when in another culture.

Superhero for planets where the dominant species has no superpowers. After all, he's a rich person with no discernable day job, and who needs a secret identity when the galaxy is your patrol?

Synthesist. someone unnaturally good at taking disparate ideas and combining them into a useful product. For instance, the synthesist may notice that an industrial process on planet A creates a form radiation that can be used for an obscure medical procedure on planet B, which makes it cost competitive against an existing technique. Not quite an inventor, not quite a business man, but more than capable of making massive quantities of money from travel and exploration.

Are you sure he needs a job? What if he just inherited the money from a relative and spends all his time traveling the galaxy looking for new parties to crash and new people to impress with his wit and charm.

I do kind of like the multi-planet superhero suggestion though. It could be a lot of fun

I can't imagine any rich person being a mailman. It's not a job that would make one rich, like a doctor or a lawyer would, and neither is it a job that an otherwise rich person is likely to want to do just because they enjoy it...

Now, something a rich person might do for fun that would involve a lot of traveling might be the "adventurer archaeologist" career, ala Lara Croft, Indiana Jones, etc. But in a scifi setting, that might involve ruins that are millions of years old left by long-dead alien species.
