This is the third annual thread to read when you need to get a good, sound butt-kicking during nano. We come here to really inspire each other to get a move on meeting our writing goals. Sometimes, somebody needs just that tad bit of nudging or pushing or chopping or burning... you know torturing! Being tied up with chains and held over the mouth of a giant troll or maybe a giant acid-spitting Mongolian death worm with only their laptop until they meet their word count type of torturing!

Somebody kick my butt. I've outlined 12/30 chapters. I'd like to get up to chapter 15 today and I know what I have to do to get there but it's just so haaaard.

I've been procrastinating on outlining my novel ever since Thursday.

I've been procrastinating on drawing a map for my story for about two weeks, now... please kick my butt!!

*roasts all procrastinators over a fire*

I've been procrastinating finishing my outline. Someone whap my toosh! :D

My main characters don't have names and my entire plot consists of one scene so far. Butt kicking is requested.

I'll be here in November quite frequently, I think. Oh dear. At least I don't have an outline to get done yet :oP

Having trouble kicking (ha!) that procrastination habit? Try working on your outline, your map, your whatever for FIVE MINUTES. Just FIVE MINUTES, but a real FIVE minutes, not four, not three. Now at the end of that five minutes, do you really want to stop? If so, then stop. Go do something else and try again later. If not, keep going!

And if this doesn't work, at least you have five more minutes worth of material than you did when you started. :)

Ah, the butt-kicking thread is back! I am definitely going to be here throughout November. Especially since I'm not going to be able to write much for the first half of November! (Exams, then a school trip.)
But I need some now, too! I'm procrastinating on editing my '10 project. The dream is to have this draft finished before Nov.

So, here we are once again. The site might be shiny and new but the dungeons are the same with even more cobwebs, dust, and who knows what creepy crawlies have set up home down there this past year. All torture implements have been checked and found in good working order. Beware slackards! (yesh, spellcheck doesn't like that word but I do)

I have been procrastinating at working on an outline for my nano novels though i tend to want to finish some of them in November besides work on a new Nano novel if i do not finish my Gothno and Scifi ones this month. I definitely need my but kicked to get inspired to write my Nano novel.

*pulls on steel-toed boots*

I'm back and ready to do some kicking, you maggots. Quit wasting my precious time and get back to planning.

So, yeah. I'll do my best to kick people's butts. (Don't expect any mercy, I enjoy this job. >;D)

And I will also likely need someone to kick my butt, because motivation can be a challenge for me. So, don't give me any mercy, kick my butt until I get back to work! :)

My outline consists of three days' worth of plan.... IT'S HARD.

i don't outline. i just write. my friend calls me a pantser because of it. but, i let my characters do whatever they feel like doing. if they feel like being vampires half way through the book. then hey why not. and i know my way of writing may sound weird, but if i plan my story out i get bored with it.

BUTT KICKS to all to get to thinking about your characters, your plot, your special words and special twists within that novel.

Get those maps done... NOWWW. Get those outlines done (if you outline) and if you don't, jog 12 miles while we outline. Heheheheeee.

I only procrastinate when I have a hidden bottle of vodka. Sadly, I have one. Someone please kick my butt. I'm productive when I can keep off the sauce but...the damn stuff is so cheap and legal.
I'll never forget watching Capote for the first time. I thought all through the film that he wrote 'In Cold blood' but there was a bottle in every scene, so if he could do it, so could I. Then the end of the film came and it went to black. Then, before the credits, the words came up that he died of complications due to alcohol. Seems like that is the way it goes for a lot of writers. Trying to avoid that.

I used avoid this thread in past years, but seeing as the past three years I quit around 20K words, I'm pulling on my tactical boots and jumping into the mosh pit of butt kicking!

I have no idea what I'm going to even write about. Can I have some butt-kicking?
