Which Stretch Was the Hardest for You?

For me, I had the most difficulty with the last 91. It's not that I ran out of stuff to write, it's that I divided my story into two "books" and had finished the first one with 91 words left to write. I knew there were some bare patches to go back and fix up, but I wasn't in any better position to fill those out than I had been at the time. I ended up going back in and adding some paragraphs here and there and unintentionally hit exactly 50,000!

This last stretch has been really hard for me. I just ran out of stuff to add. I am seriously in awe of those who have so much to write. I thought 50k wouldn't finish the novel but I'm done and I still have 2K left to write. I've already done a prologue and an epilogue! I feel like anything else I add is just filler crap. I wish I knew what I was missing or what the secret is to being able to write a good length novel.

Between 5K-15K, I was having trouble getting my thoughts down. Then the last 5K was tough as well. Mostly because I was trying to make sure the ending was perfect, but I had to convince myself that that was impossible - and there will be plenty of time to edit in the future. :P

1. The day after I hit 50K. My daily word count the day after dropped a lot. (Of course, that was after an all night write-in.

2. The days after I verified. I got distracted by the Internet and didn't get back to writing for a couple of days.

If I had kept writing, I might have hit 100K. I'll have to think about doing that next year.

The 20-25K. I was starting to doubt how my plot would turn out, and I started to hate my characters, and I hated having to move the plot along. It wasn't good. But then after that things started to fly. But once I got to that 49K point, I literally sat in front of my computer for a good hour before anything came to me.
