At the beginning of the month I was so concerned with my wordcount that I fleshed things out a LOT, and I hit 50k when I wasn't even a quarter of the way through. I know where it ends and what's going to happen so I should be able to finish it, but it's kind of daunting knowing how massive the rewrite is going to have to be. I want to actually finish the thing before I start rewriting it, but I'm really struggling to carry on when I know how much of it I'm going to have to change when I cut all the unnecessary stuff from the beginning of the month. I kind of want to rewrite what I've already got first so that it doesn't keep bothering me, and because it's going to be less horrific cutting down 50k of words than cutting down 250k! But I know that if I do, I'll probably get so frustrated that I'll never get round to writing the rest. I took December off to work on some shorter projects and do holiday/end of semester stuff, and I've been trying to get back in gear to finish now that it's January.
