So I plan on finishing my NanoNovel, and one day, after probably years of editing, I want to get it published. But how should I go on with finishing it? Part of it is hand written while other parts are typed, so do I type all of the handwritten parts for now and take a slight breather, or should I just go on ahead and just continue until I am finished and type the rest later? Also, I want to change the novel from third to first person, so what do you think I should do?
Keep going until you're finished. Either type or handwrite from where you are, but don't go back and re-do things until you've written "The End." As far as the POV change, if you're certain that's what you want to do, write the rest of the novel in 1st person, then go back and change the rest of it after you've reached the end.
The problem with going back to the beginning to change things (like POV or to type everything) is that before you get to the end you might think of something else you want to change (actually, it's almost certain that you will!), so then you go back to the beginning and change that, then you think of something else, etc etc etc. And you still don't have a finished draft. Get in the habit of finishing your first drafts. Make notes of what you think need to be changed, but keep pushing forward until you get to the end. (You may also be surprised at how much your ideas about what needs to be changed will have changed by then.)
I agree with the above. Keep on going, weather you choose typing or handwriting, just get to the end first. Then, once you're done, if you decide you want all your novel handwritten, then write the typed bits onto paper, or if you want everything on the computer, then type out the handwritten bits. Try to keep it exactly as you wrote it when you either type write it out. Editing's the next step.
I also wanted to change my whole Novel to 1st Pov. Thing is, it's very difficult to go about it (at least for me) Once you replace I for she or he, then you need to go and change his to mine and the list goes on. It's tiring and even if you use the find and replace function on Word, I've never felt that it flows the right way. Still that's just me and you might want to try it out anyway.
I agree with the poster who agreed with the poster : D
Finish the first draft while making notes of what you think needs changes - then go back and make those changes only after you're done, otherwise odds are you'll find yourself on an endless merry-go-round of edits and revisions, and that's one of the main goals of Nano - to simply WRITE.
That's just that pesky inner editor making a stealth ninja move to trip you up. Bribe him or her with cookies or chocolate and then lock them in the closet until you've written "The End."
