We're a different breed, you and me, who like to write Religious, Spiritual, & New Age fiction.
Doesn't mean we can't have fun with some dares!
Have an idea that you think would be awesome, or awesomely bad, in ReligiousLit? Leave it as a dare. And, assign a relatively random point value to it, just for that added level of competitiveness. Get stuck at some point? Grab a dare off our thread.
+5 if your MC discovers a new religious text +10 if your MC wrote it in a past life +10 if your MC realizes it's not new at all - it's actually Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Heh, I aleady have the+5 in the first part of the fantasy trilogy I'm doing part two of now .... and is toeing the +10 since it's a direct ancestor to the MC's that wrote it :)

I almost got these two already; except that the MC's revelation eventually turns out to be an excerpt from a series roughly equivalent to 'Scrubs'.
Dare: Your characters decide to start their OWN religion and appoint the MC as leader of it. BP: If your MC goes with it just for fun. DBP: If your MC is eventually ostracized from said cult. TBP: If this cult eventually sweeps the nation(s).
(Actually, this might be better for the Fantasy genre...)
+5 if one of your characters has 'Bowl of Petunias' syndrome (brought back over and over again for the same purpose) Double if he figures it out Triple if he starts messing with his own bloodline, becoming both the great-grandfather and mother of one of the other characters
Bonus points if you can have Daemons discussing the nature of life, spirituality, and what the Creator has planned
Dare: Your character has/is their own god/deity/religious character attached to them
+5 if they are kind and sweet to their own/kind to everybody +10 If they use their powers to create a utopia that would make Mare Sue jealous. +10 If they ascend/take up to gods/"the one true ruler's" side.
Nothing mean, it's just that it seems like a pretty drawl. I would be quite impressed if somebody pulls it off well.
Dare: No one in your novel disputes the dominant religion. (ie no religious debates)
+5 your MC realizes this +10 your MC wonders why and tries to instigate or at least question the status quo.... even if he or she is a devout follower of said religion. +10 every time the MC tries to instigate, one of the lesser characters stops him/her +10 the lesser character isn't trying to stop the MC at all, its completely accidental.
Religious, Spiritual, & New Age Dares
