Nothing sexual or violent.... He's my MacBeth character, but his 'killings' are going to be more character assassinations/ ruining other people's ministries/ forcing them to leave the church.
Ah, that is a good one! Because it is non-violent and, depending upon the issue he was protesting and what direction you need the story to go, could be considered either morally upright or not in the eyes of society or his local congregation. It could even be the catalyst for his "assassination" of people's ministries or running them out of the church.
I was going to suggest the same thing. If he's going to be a MacBeth type, it would have to be a protest that would be seen as bad ... I was going to say more like the "god hates fags" type than the "occupy" movement, but I shouldn't prejudge your moral canvas. Fraud might be an easier option. Or conspiracy to bomb abortion clinics, if people still do that?
I heard on the news recently... last week or the week before, I think... of a foiled plot to do Oklahoma City styled bombings of Federal buildings in Atlanta (I think it was) and then shoot people fleeing the scene. So bombing abortion clinics, though it was been quiet in recent years, would still be a viable option. Or maybe, instead of just targeting a clinic, the individual could target a local area hospital that performs abortions. People do very crazy stuff in Emergency Rooms, especially since there tends to have a large "captive" audience in the ER waiting room...
How about accessory after the fact - covering up for another priest who's done something dreadful maybe. It has that same obeying personal morality rather than the law flavour and (depending on what the other person has done) could really stir up some emotions.
Thank you for all the suggestions. You know what I think I'm going to go with afterall... his second son who emulates him is going to kill someone in a hit and run and dad's going to try to help him cover it up to protect his position.
I don't see this guy as a thief and he's already getting annoyed with his wife's political involvements...something that has to do with protecting himself and his hopes for his favorite child seems more in character for me.
Sorry I'm a bit late, but a Pastor can pretty much be arrested for anything. I'm not sure what kind of pastor he is (the REAL DEAL, or fake) but if he is the real deal, instead of him doing the actual you know stunt to get arrested, it could be someone else but they make it look like the pastor did it. If the pastor is a fake, marijuana could be growing in his back yard, stealing money from tithers, ect. But it also doesn't have to be him actually getting him arrested physically. He could commit adultery and God will have to deal with him.
I need a good reason for a pastor to be arrested

Fraud's a good one.
Re: I need a good reason for a pastor to be arrested
Stealing from anywhere.
Possibly slander..
Re: I need a good reason for a pastor to be arrested
He can be arrested for trespassing while being part of a protest.

Re: I need a good reason for a pastor to be arrested
Embezzling church funds!
Or is that a little too realistic? ;)
