Congratulations!
You have been invited to join the royal family in celebrating the 25th annual Valentine's Day Masquerade Ball! As per tradition, there will be a kissing booth where you can kiss one of the palace knights and enough music to dance the night away! This year, as a special treat, all the princes and princesses of the royal family will be disguised as guests during the ball. Who knows, maybe you'll enjoy a dance with a member of the royal family!
Love is in the air!
Oh, and the Queen as declared that the ball will never end until someone gets engaged!
------------------
"What is this?" William glared at the servant who presented him the invitation. He expected to be forced into a 'disguise' as his mother so kindly put it. He even expected some of the best royal guards be forced to do some petty task as to kiss some strangers all day. But an engagement?
The servant shifted nervously and avoided his gaze. "I-It's an invitation to the Valentine's Day Ball, sir. We would have noted you sooner, b-but-"
"Sooner? What do you mean? What day is it?" William grabbed the servant by the collar and roughly shook him. The vampire's typical mask of indifference was broken by a sense of urgency and panic.
"It's V-Valentine's Day, sir," The servant squirmed away, fear rolling off him in waves.
William cursed colorfully.
--------------------------------------
The Kissing Booth was made up of two very comfortable armchairs on a platform with a huge, decorative banner colored with pink and red declaring its use. Rashon was elegantly slumped over in the chair with his chin resting on him palm. There was a few more minutes before the guests would arrive, but he had hoped to convince a few servants to give him his first kiss of the evening. None of them consented. Thus, the handsome knight was slumped elegantly, mind you, one on of the chairs looking so desperately bored.
He sighed dramatically and flicked some lint off the arm of the chair.
Lolly skipped into the place smiling joyfully from underneath her mask. A cow was dangeling from her arms.. in fact this cow seemed rather small. Lolly smiled, "Oh my goodness Cowy look at how lovely this place looks," she said excitedly.
Visere was glad - so utterly glad - that at least one other person was feeling as dejected as he was. He wasn't bored, perse, but it was a ridiculously stupid idea all the same. Valentine's day? Ball? Why? He mentally cursed the queen for having such strange ideas, and for pulling him into it. But if he was going to be in it, he might as well make a good impression of himself.
He tugged as his doublet, then straightened his mask. It was hard to breath the thing, but the anonymity was assuring. Then he headed towards the Kissing Booth. "My my, you look bored," he remarked to the knight - he couldn't tell which under the mask - slumped on the chair. Visere found a comfortable patch of wall to lean against, looking up at the ceiling, and waited for the guests to arrive.
Jessica slowly made her way into the hall, wishing, not for the first time, that her friend Korje had put her in a less noticeable dress. As it was, the pink of her hair made the girl stand out far too much. But couple that with the dress she'd been given, and it was all over. The vines wound their way up her forearm's, and flowers dotted her hair. Add in the fact that Korje had for some reason added small wings to the back of the dress, and Jessica would be noticed by everyone in the hall. Something she didn't want. At all.
Leon leaned against the walls of the hall, having been there for many hours already. His dark nature allowed him to hide in the shadows, and remain unseen even when someone looked directly at him. He smiled slightly, wondering who his first victim of the night would be. There was that knight over in the kissing booths, or that other man nearby there, or even... Hello, who's this? He thought to himself. This dilectible little beauty seemed to be hiding something.
Muffling a groan as she stepped into the hall, Satomi adjusted her mask, thankful for its hiding qualities as her dress rustled with every step. Mentally, she cursed her parents for forcing her to this ball as she gazed around. Brushing a strand of hair from her eyes, she cursed her parents once more for putting her hair down, it was continually falling in her eyes! Giving a quiet sigh of relief she was happy with the small amount of people in the room, though it would fill up eventually.
Lolly's eyes seemed to be everywhere at the same time, "Oh my they have kissing booths, a dance floor, a table with food, a creepy guy, a girl wearing a pretty dress, another girl, two people at a kissing booth, and..... um..... whoa!" She ran up to a table and examined it, "Is that a? Yes! Cowy they have cupcakes!" Cowy mooed and Lolly gave him a stern glance, "Now Cowy that's no way to be."

Tayla stepped into the ballroom hesitantly, afraid of what it would be like. Her mother had forced her into coming- she didn't want to waste a perfectly good night pretending to be someone else. And what were the chances she would meet someone here? She was planning on hiding in the corner, by the chocolate-covered strawberries, and watching everyone else flirt and dance. She reached up and fixed her mask to sit on her curls perfectly. Tayla reached to her arm, where the off-the-shoulder strap had loosened and slipped down.
Cowy slipped out of Lolly's grasp and ran to Tayla giving her a moo in greeting. Lolly looked surprised, "Cowy! Come back here!" Cowy ignored her and licked Tayla's ankle. Lolly ran up to Tayla and frowned, "I am sorry!" She said picking up Cowy again. She then gave Tayla a bright smile, "Cowy seems to like you!"

Tayla jumped a bit in surprise when the cow and his owner approached her. The girl had bright pink hair and was wearing a black dress. "H--h--hi! What's your name?" Tayla managed a smile, and winced as she stuttered.
Brielle stood cautiously at the doorway a moment, her eyes scanning the crowd for a familiar face. There wasn't one, of course, and with a shrug she stepped in side, reaching one slim hand up to adjust the feathered mask covering her face. This ought to be fun.
"I can't believe I let you talk me into this," Conall muttered darkly. "Why am I here again?"
Sirce smacked her brother's arm, glaring at him from underneath the mask. "Because we were invited, and it's polite to come," she replied, tucking one dark blond curl behind her ear, "and because you need to have a social life. You never go anywhere!"
"Because I don't like people," he said grimly.
"At least try to get along with someone tonight," she sighed, exasperated. She brightened as a new song started playing. "I'm going to dance. You go mingle. Make some friends. If I catch you standing in a corner brooding, I'll turn you into a statue." Green eyes glittering, she walked off to the dance floor.
Leon whistled low as a woman with beautiful green eyes walked past him to the dance floor. He smiled at the body attached to those eyes, then descretly followed her. His mask remained snugly in place, keeping his identity a secret, as it should.
Jess slowly tried to hide in a corner, just as some other girl did. She bit back a squeak, then stood still, with her eyes closed, praying she wouldn't be noticed, or even that the girl might leave. Of course, with the way she looked, Jess had little chance of not getting noticed. She again cursed her friend for the dress.
Sirce glanced around, absentmindedly straightening the feathers on her mask. She couldn't exactly dance if she didn't have a partner. She smiled slightly. That could easily be remedied, of course. She leaned back against the wall, scanning the area for any potential partners.
Grimacing as more people flowed in, Satomi stepped back as people began to fill the dance floor. Brushing aside a strand of her hair she began to feel apprehensive as more and more people entered. Giving a soft groan she backed up, searching for a dark corner to hide in when she suddenly bumped into someone.
Jess panicked as someone bumped into her. She fell over, squealing, and looked up at the other girl with wide eyes.
Leon cocked his head at the girl, the smiled and placed a hand on her shoulder. He wasn't suprised he'd gotten this close unnoticed. His side job as an assassin had made him good at that.((This is for Sirce, in case you can't tell.))
Smiling under his mask, Leon took his hand off the girls shoulder and held it out. "You look like you could use a dance partner. Do I make the cut?" he asked, his smile turning to a slight smirk.
"NO! You cannot make me go in there," Azrael protested, attempting to wrench her arm out of Ridley's grasp. The two angels stood in the entrance of the ballroom, one looking annoyed while the other looked like she might die. Ridley sighed. "You promised," she argued. "And besides, I'm not letting you leave now. You look beautiful and people should be able to see that." She smirked as she saw Azrael's shoulders slump slightly in resignation, and she loosened her grip on her friend's arm as they both entered the room. // A little boy raced around the room, moving from one guest to the other, determined to learn everyone's name and favorite color. He skidded to a stop infront of some woman in a feathered mask leaning against the back wall. "Hi," he chirpped. "What's your name? What's your favorite color? Oh! Do you like birds? You must because you have feathers on your mask."
She glanced down at the boy who had approached her, surprised. "I'm Sirce," she replied, smiling slightly. "My favorite color is green, and yes, I do like birds."
Eustace's eyes grew wide. "Really? I like the color green too! What kind of birds do you like? I like the colorful kind, especially those birds with the big tail feathers that look like fans. What are those called again? It starts with a p..." The princeling frowned as he tried to recall what that bird was called. A pea...peacock! That was it, right?
