Hey this is a story idea I’ve had for ages and I’ll probably still write with all the other ongoing stories probably not in the near future but I think the idea might make a passable role-play at least so post if you’d be interested in this :)

Basically archways have begun to spring up across the planet, (set in the far, and grim, future) and through these doors people have discovered dead words, no warmth, no water, no life, that sort of thing. However there are what appears to be warehouses were strangely human children with strange mechanisms implanted in their brains, are stored in a state of suspended animation. (And yes there is a reason for all of this but unless people want to know now I’d rather it come out during the course of the role-play.)

Now as human scientists have since claimed the clockwork children as they call them, they have discovered that each child possesses an ability utterly unique to them and they seek to use these abilities to further mankind, giving the children no choice in this matter at all. However not all of the clockwork children reached the laboratories and they have spent their lives in the general population, unaware of what they are and as they find out they have a choice, to seek refuge in the laboratories or to live as fugitives, on the run from the government and the scientists.

And inside the laboratories a hint of rebellion is stirring as the clockwork children seek to break free of their prisons and seek out the true answers to who and what they are no matter what the consequences.

--------

Well if this is something you feel you might be interested in playing then post below :)
Character Sheets (If you feel up to playing several characters you can have a maximum of six. In this role-play ideally government officials, scientists, ordinary humans and clockwork children are needed, clockwork children and scientists of course being the most vital.)

Age:
Role:
Ability (but only if you’re clockwork)

why does this seem a liiiiitl' similar with uncharted? it gives me the same feel.

as long as you will keep this alive and not fast paced like Uncharted I am in.
I will use Arina for this rp.
sheet will be up later on.

Hi andreeacarmen :)

Oh it's not that similar; at least I don't see that if it is then it's completely by accident and you can use the polling forums as proof because it was something I debated writing for nano instead of my vampires. I’m in the middle of writing a fantasy and this is the myth/fact of the beginnings of the ruling families, not that this bears much impact on this story since these are the ancestors. It’s been going on for years, honestly.

Still, if you’re read that I’m not actually upset although it might sound that way, it’s just sometimes difficult to write in a calm manner. But sure, Arina is welcome to blood and clockwork, magic would be good if she’s a clockwork child but I’m sure we could work her art in somewhere :)

Right these are actually some of the clockwork characters I’ve sketched out already so obviously please don’t kill or seriously hurt them. This a rule that goes the same for any other character in this role-play unless of course you have reached some agreement with the other player and the same goes for control.

Name: Zenobia
Age: 22
Role: Clockwork
Ability: Life itself, Zenobia can heal others and even sometimes bring them back from the brink of death if she has the inclination which isn’t often. She also has the rather inconvenient situation of flowers growing in her footsteps.
Position: Inside the laboratories
Appearance: A tall young woman with red hair the colour of lava falling loose to the centre of her back and snake like eyes the shade of dirty green you get on your finger after wearing a copper ring for too long. Black and grey tattoo’s and strange markings go up her otherwise, body, from the feet to the base of the throat, no one knows what these mean and they frighten her but she won’t admit that. Vines grow out from her feet.
Personality: Proud, arrogant and not a little ruthless Zenobia is perfectly capable of turning someone else’s life upside down to get what she wants and she’ll only rarely feel guilt. With Zenobia you catch more flies with vinegar than with honey.
Background: A clockwork child Zenobia escaped the laboratories for a while as she was protected by one of the scientists who proceeded to raise her. After Zenobia’s adoptive mother was hunted down and killed however Zenobia was chased down and incorporated into the labs. Now she’s become obsessed with the idea of escape and the hunt for immortality, something she fells the clockwork children could potentially have. Terrified of dying and paranoid that the scientists will soon execute her for her rebellious nature Zenobia is the leading force in the rebellion.
Other: Due to the aforementioned flowers Zenobia fills her shoes with salt in an effort to stop the flowers from growing.

Name: Alexander Kirk (Alex)
Age: 17
Role: Clockwork
Ability: Controls electricity.
Position: Outside the laboratories
Appearance: A skinny, pale skinned boy with unruly brown hair and black eyes. He wears messy clothes such as dirty trainers, ripped jeans and tee shirts with slogans.
Personality: The joker, Alex cracks jokes at every opportunity, especially when others provoke him. However he is actually very serious and thoughtful underneath although it is easy for Alex to give into his vices and turn to drink.
Background: A clockwork child Alex was raised with his twin brother outside the laboratories, having originally slipped the net and even went to school. Throughout his life Alex has been aware of his gift and that of his brothers and has tried to understand and keep them off the radar. Once his brother’s gifts escalate they are forced into life as a fugitive as they seek to gain refuge in the labs under their own terms.
Other: None.

Name: Amorian Kirk (Mori)
Age: 17
Role: Clockwork
Ability: Amorian corrupts any living (other than Alex) with a single touch with diffrent effects.
Position: Outside the laboratories
Appearance: A skinny, pale skinned boy with unruly black hair and black eyes. Lax about his appearance Amorian wears Alex’s clothes although later he ends up covering his skin as much as possible with long sleeved shirts and evening gloves.
Personality: Sober and miserable, Amorian is on the brink of depression.
Background: A clockwork child Mori was raised with his twin brother outside the laboratories, having originally slipped the net and even went to school. He was kept unaware of his powers by his brother to disastrous consequences and since his girlfriend, Rachel, committed suicide under the influence of his ability he and Alex have been on the run.
Other: Has taken it upon himself to protect Atheria

Name: Atheria Alcott (Theia)
Age: 15
Role: Clockwork
Ability: Shape shifting
Position: Inside the laboratories
Appearance: Small and mouselike Atheria has dark skin and deep brown hair she wears in plats and brown eyes.
Personality: Sweet and shy Atheria has been kept separate from people her own age for most of her life and as a result she is naive of many social graces.
Background: Atheria has bemused the scientists as there is something different in her blood to the other clockwork children and as such she has been kept separate her entire life and monitored. However she will soon be brought into the labs general.
Other: There is something utterly different about Atheria from the rest of the clockwork children and it will come up at some stage probably.

wait? is magic involved in this? how?
it is not necessarily for her to be an artist in this. i chose her for her renegade profile, i have one more fit for this too, Saya.

Katherine Jane

The magic is in their blood and controlled by the implants in their brain. Remember they are different from ordinary humans and they come from different worlds. I can tell you the reason they have magic if you want but its part of the purpose for their being and I was planning to have it come out later.

And I don't mind who you bring in, it's entirely up to you :)

andreeacarmen

u don't need to tell why now.
tell me what kind of magic, till what extent does it go? i wanna know what to expect and how to adapt my charies.

Katherine Jane
50130 words so far Winner!

Their magic can be extremely powerful but it should be balanced if not actually problematic for them. If they use magic willingly then there are bad consequences to go along with good and if they don’t then the magic is sometimes something they can’t handle or control. For example, you might be able to talk to spirits and gain required information but it would cause you pain to do so and might actually damage your health and weaken you each time. Lesser magic is good to and using less powerful abilities means you have fewer nasty side effects.

I hope this helps :)

andreeacarmen

future and magic, sci-fi and fantasy....wooo...this is NOTHING too close to Uncharted. only a lil.

Name: Simeon
Age: 16
Role: Clockwork
Ability: The ability to convince someone that they were doing something different. This only works once for every person.
Position: Outside Laboratories
Appearance: Simeon is a raggedy teen with a light tan. He has shaggy dirty blonde hair.
Personality: He is very shrewd and can be unnerving to talk to. He almost never smiles, because he knows that life has a grim and bleak outlook.
Background: Simeon escaped from the laboratories when he was 12, and has been on the run ever since. He escaped when he woke up one day just hanging in suspended animation. He didn't know anything about the outside world, but Charlie had noticed him before she broke out, and took him with her.
Other: He always wears pink sneakers, that he somehow manages to keep in good condition.

Name: Charlie
Age: 18
Role: Clockwork
Ability: The ability to communicate with inanimate objects and sometimes bend them to her will.
Position: Outside
Appearance: She always keeps her hair short and boyish, and there is almost always a crooked smile on her face. She is usually smudged with dirt.
Personality: She is a spunky girl with lots of street smarts.
Background: When Charlie was 13 she got a blood test, then was kidnapped from her home. She was in suspended animation for a year before her power acted up and her subconscious convinced the machines to wake her up. So she escaped from the laboratory, only stopping to help the boy that had somehow woken up. The alarms were already ringing, so she couldn't help anyone else, lest she and the boy were caught.
Other: Cars really like her.

Katherine Jane

They're great MariahBurkett :)

I will say this for the rest of you however because I'm now slightly worried this wasn't made clear, sorry for that. The clockwork children were in suspended animation in the other world. Most of them were woken up by the scientists although a few were rescued before they came on the scene, allowing them to slip through the net. So anyway if you start out in the labs its fine and you're able to move around within limits. Some people would still have been suspended though; especially likely troublemakers and escapees so Simon and Charlie are fine MariahBurkett :)

MariahBurkett
27677 words so far

So do Simeon and Charlie need to start in the Labs?

Katherine Jane
50130 words so far Winner!

No, they can start outside if you want them to, it's just that anyone starting in the labs will be able to walk around pretty freely as long as they don't break the rules. In fact they probably have more freedom than those outside because most of them probably want to advoid attracting too much attention.

Okay then.

andreeacarmen

i am just really confused: magic and futuristic rp.
magic is usually associated with the past and supernatural powers or crazy tech with future. i donno how to build my charies and how the powers/magic should sound like

Ominous Rain
72795 words so far Winner!

It's like Star Wars, that's fantasy (the force) and scifi (pod racers, robots). I'll try to make my characters soon.

andreeacarmen

Thank you for the comparison Rain. I was seriously trying to think of books and movies in this style to make an association.

andreeacarmen

It is much more clear in my mind now. I will come up with the carries later. Have to go soon.

Ominous Rain

I am sorry, I didn't realise it would get so complicated, is there anything which would help to clear matters up further?

Name: Denada
Age: Looks 15
Role: Clockwork
Ability: She can suck out the "soul" of a person, the life-force or essence, and thrive on it. Also has training as an experimental "human weapon" with certain ... modifications to match.
Position: Outside.
Appearance: Short, messy brown hair and black eyes, broad shoulders, and just starting to sprout up -- she'll be tall when she's fully grown. Generally a bit tanned. Wears a long red scarf pulled up over her nose and mouth, as well as head-to-toe tight black clothing, gloves and boots.
Personality: Quiet, solemn and generally quite protective of her loved ones. Has a deadpan/dry sense of humour. Generally comes off as older than she looks. Also, in a fight she's completely sadistic and bloodthirsty, and will drag things out as much as she can -- palying with the victim as much as humanly possible.
Background: She was smuggled out of the labs in secret around 10 and doesn't remember anything before waking up in The Master's spare bedroom. She is completely loyal to him, and only him.
Other: She may or may not have been created in the clockwork labs as a living weapon, and all that information is already in her brain, bouncing around and waiting for the right time to be unleashed.

Name: "The Master."
Age: Looks to be in his mid-to-late twenties.
Role: High-ranking government official, focused on one city in particular -- as in, he runs it, controls it, and make sure it functions like a well-oiled machine.
Appearance: Lanky and sharp-edged, with yellow eyes and black hair, usually slicked back. Tends to wear fine, dark suits and a silver-tipped walking stick.
Personality: Calculating, manipulative, and generally one who'll take the gid picture over the smaller pixels, he does what's best for his career and "his" city. Not one moved by sob stories, and is easier to sway when you use logic -- what he'd get from helping you. Usually smiling, friendly, and amused.
Background: N/A
Other: He has raised Denada as his Ward and keeps the fact that she's clockwork under wraps.

Katherine Jane
50130 words so far Winner!

So is Denada’s ability actually going to kill people? Sorry I’m just a little confused about what happens when the soul is sucked out, do the victims become living husks or do they die or something else?

Contemptus

Sorry, just tweaking De's age. I'm bumping her from 15 to 17. The Master is still in his mid-to-late 20s.
