I am in a creative rut right now. I had my characters talk about a date they had that went all wrong but I have no idea what it was. It seems as if the MMC had something planned and it was just a domino affect of disaster and by the end of the night the FMC didn't want to talk to him again, but just for a few days when she reflects on it.
Any ideas for disaster dates??? I could use all the help I can get.
Accidental insults of something the other really loves Allergic reaction to the meal One part taking the date much more serious than the other
I don't know you your charries would ever do such a thing, but one of my former classmates once brought his parents along on a date. That could really mess things up too.
He took a wrong turn and was late. Then he couldn't find the restaurant he's planned to take her to. By the time they got there it was closed and they ended up at Taco Bell. He wanted to take her to a movie but the only things showing were horror and a cartoon. He couldn't think of anything else to do so he suggested they go dancing, even though he couldn't dance. She lived in a dry county and the closest club was 30 minutes down the interstate. Once they got there, she saw one of her male friends, who did love to dance. She ended up dancing with the friends because of his two left feet. When they made it back to the car the transmission was blown. he had to push the car out of the parking spot because reverse wasn't working, then the trip back to her place took twice as long because he couldn't get the car above 50mph.
This is actually my first date with my ex-husband. Yeah, I married him anyway. Stupid me. LOL
The guy tried to compliment her, but it came out all wrong, and he ended up saying she looked like his mother or grandma. Then, their food and wine arrived, and the waiter spilled red wine down the front of her five-thousand dollar dress (or nice brand of a dress that costs a chunk of cash). Afterwards, they took a walk, the air was awkward, and she was huffing and secretly fuming in her ruined gown. Then, they went to a movie, he tried to put his arm around her, and leaned in as if to kiss her cheek, and they ended up bumping noses, or their foreheads connected hard, causing them to break apart.
Afterwards, she finally got a call from her work, and had to dash away, and gladly left him, and their ruined date.
Everything went wrong...but how?

Re: Everything went wrong...but how?
Alcohol often leads to disaster.
Then there's the possibility of running into someone's ex.
Or police getting involved
Or that mysterious phone call followed by "I gotta go" with no explanation
Spilling something that stains on nice clothes
Insulting someone she cares about...
I'll think of more later.

Oh my! But I couldn't help but laugh. I think I may use some of that...
