The lounge meet cute

So we're all romance writers of some kind and we'll be sharing this forum because we all want to write the most awesome romance story ever.
So why don't we introduce ourselves, get acquainted a bit so that topics are easier to understand and/or create/replied and we can see if we can find an even more kindred heart amongst ourselves to buddy up and talk more intimately with. :)
So introduce yourselves here and maybe there'll be a buddy topic as well coupled to this one to team people up better. So if you look for someone to buddy up with but you don't know them that well and are too lazy to look at their profiles (which are always very intimidating I know), just look at their introductory post and you'll know if you'll have an even greater chance of getting along (next to the nano check on the list that we all have).

Hello all you other Nanoers! :wavewave:

This year my primary Nano book is going to be a science fiction romance, so for the first time ever I'll also be haunting this forum for a Nano. That's one of the great things about Nano: we get to write new things in new genres.

I'm really looking forward to it. Science fiction, romance, adventure, humor, a space station, an exotic pet show, and a rare alien newt. Yes, as in the lizard kind. It's going to be a fun Nano. :P

Hi all!
I'm writing a... I can't really define it in terms of a genre. It's basically a combination story (A la Valentine's Day) following different teen musicians as they try to succeed, fall in love, whatever. All of it takes place in New York and I simply can't write anything without a healthy helping of romance. So... here I am!

I got the same problem. It doesn't matter what I write, it just doesn't feel complete without some sort of romance involved, preferably with the MCs XD.
For me, I'm writing a fantasy romance story in the style of Nora Roberts' The Circle trilogy and the Three Sister's Island trilogy.

Hi!

Every year so far I've said I'm going to write a Romance. Every year so far I've ended up writing something else (either Science Fiction or Fantasy) and sometimes the stories had some romance in them, but this year I'm writing a romance-driven story. I hope.

My love story is contemporary and will probably end up being about 100k words. I'm starting with a blind date. We'll see what happens after that.

This year will also be a first in that I'm planning on--well--planning. I want to completely outline the book before the first rolls around so that I can spend more time writing and less time tapping my fingers on the table trying to think of what will happen next.

Hey all, I'm Kel'daryth, and I currently live out east, although I'll hopefully be moving back into the inner suburbs soon--possibly mid November, which could murder my word count. I write queer romantic fiction, and my 2009 NaNo Novel, The Secret of Talmor Manor was published by MLR Press in New York and please buy it so I can continue to eat :)

I'm writing a fantasy novel this year around, with a tidally locked world, four armed barbarians and giant riding lizards. Mostly I'm just trying to work out what happens when a modern gay guy gets dropped into a heteronormative fantasy quest narrative where he has to kill the dragon and rescue the princess...

Fourth year in and rebelling as normal!

Cheers

Hi, everyone. This is my third year participating in NaNoWriMo. This year's Nano is a romance but also an adventure. It takes place during WWIII on American soil. I have most of it mapped out in my head but there are minute details that I'm struggling with. That's always the case with me. I have the big picture but I can't figure out the little pieces that put the big picture together. Ugh. This is actually a prequel to my 2009 Nano, which was titled 'Thorns', and takes place at the beginning of the war versus years after the war.

I wish you all the best!

I'm Liz. This is my first year doing NaNo, and my first attempt at writing a novel that I've actually planned ahead of time! Go me!

My novel is called Promise Me Paradise and it's going to be set in 1925 with the main characters being a flapper and a rum runner. I have most of the heavy lifting done, plot-wise, but there's this big chunk of the middle of the book where the summary is basically "they make out! A LOT!" so I'm still doing some refining to make sure the subplots can act as a focal point during the courtship of act II.

Heey I'm Leanne :)

I've done NaNo three times before and each time it's been pretty heavy on the romance. Last year I decided to try something different... and wrote a historical novel but found the romance still creeping in there. 've discovered that I like writing historical novels a lot, and so I've decided to do that again this year.

Romance features very heavily though, and I'm kinda anxious about it because I'm used to the whole 'fluffy romance' and this is something very different. My romance this year is going to be incredibly dark and possessive. There will be some violence in play, and a lot of love/hate. So if anyone has written anything like this before and could offer any tips, I'd be happy to listen :)

This is my first time writing a romance. it's technically a Victorian era love triangle between a Lord, his valet lover and his Italian wife. Lots of secrets and blackmail abound.

This is my 7th NaNo, though not my 7th book (I've got I think 10 or 11 finished manuscripts. Maybe 10 1/2 because I lost half of last year's when my external died).

Anyway, nice to meet you all!

Hi everyone, I'm Taisch :)

I'm rebelling this year: gonna try to finish my NaNo from last year. It's a fantasy, but it's the romance part of it that I really need to have work.

I'm doing "reincarnated lovers", and this year I plan to write in more detail about their previous incarnation (last year it was all just a fuzzy idea in my mind, but this year I have a plot for them!). I was gonna have the "soul-mates" thing, too, but ditched that idea when I realized I had no clue what it really means, once you get into the nitty-gritty details. I'm keeping my sets of love triangles (I must have at least 3 of them by now) though. And introducing a new sacrificial little sister, because I'm evil that way.

Dunno if I can pull this off, but it's October, which means I'm all excited and optimistic about my novel!

Pretty sure I am also a rebel this year because I'm doing a short story collection. Some of them veer off into fantasy and science fiction territory, but they all are centered around relationships. Not really sure I have the skills to pull off romance and it's slightly worrisome that some of my plot notes are nothing more then: "Characters have conversations." In any event I'm really excited. This will be my third or fourth year, having only won last...year.

Good luck everyone. :)

I'm Tina and this is my sixth year participating in NaNoWriMo. I've been writing M×M romance (either as a sub-plot or as the main focus) for NaNo every year since 2007 and I'm not about to stop now. This year romance is the primary genre.

This year's novel is a sequel to my NaNo '10 novel. It's titled Vermilion Dhole and it's about the relationship between an alcoholic former escort and a seemingly asexual chauffeur with the mentality of a six year old. The first novel was 185k in length and was more focused on them getting together - but now the honeymoon period is over and they have come to terms with the fact they're completely incompatible. x)

I'm Teri. This will be my third year doing NaNo and my third year in the romance genre, and this year I plan on actually winning! This year I know I'm going to be a rebel, but I'm okay with that. I plan of finishing my novel from last year.

What I write are kind of closer to sweet romances, though sometimes (not that often) situations get intense (though you never read that; i.e. you don't read what actually happens in the bedroom, it is only hinted at). I'm such a sap and a romantic, so I love just telling the love story between the two characters; my novels are just really all romance, with sometimes a bit of other genres.

I am excited for this year, but also nervous since this will be my first NaNo while I am in school. I am going to school for Baking and Pastry (something else I really like doing) in order to have something that can support a career in writing

Hello! I'm Elizabeth, and this year I am going down the modern romance route. Last year I managed a biography of my cat - sounds strange, but she passed away a few days before Nano started last year, and it was more therapeutic than productive!

This year, it's Christmastime, and time to disappear to the snow covered mountains of somewhere, where snow storms move in at the drop of a hat! My leading lady is returning home for the first time in 5yrs. 5yrs ago, her husband lay dying in a hospital bed, but she was elsewhere with another man. Guilt and grief drove her away, but her own bout of illness has left her with no choice but to return home, face the consequences and face her demons. Other than that, I have no idea where its going or what is going to happen! I probably should think a little harder, but I like the 'on the fly' nature of Nano!

I have been switching the genre of my novel between Romance and Mainstream for this year. The plan involves a relationship between a couple of single young folks in which there is a considerable quantity of physical attraction and affection, even though one of the characters is devoted to being celibate. So I guess it could be considered romance of a sort. I certainly don't intend to take it seriously.

I've never set out to write a romance and my reading of the genre is limited to Diana Gabaldon's _Outlander_ series, which was a few years ago.

Hi I'm Andy, and this is my first attempt at any extended romance. I've done one or two short stories in the romantic genre which have been rather well received but the three NaNos I've successfully done so far have all been fantasy-genre books. I think it'll be quite difficult for me not to stray into the world of magic but I really want to give this one a go.

Mine's a story about a guy who tries to work out basically why he sucks at relationships through writing a journal about why each of his relationships ended, though that's a rather vague oversimplification of it.

Hey, I'm new to the forum, but not to NaNo...last year I managed to wing it thoroughly with a not-quite-romance. This year I'm just going for it. I have multiple plots in mind, the current two being:

Good girl with Rich and Important parents meets punk rock boy and realizes that maybe she doesn't want to grow up to be a confident and career driven wearer of pant suits.

Newly divorced girl meets young chef and falls in love...but her heart is the one thing she can't trust right now. Trials, tribulations and tapas ensue.

I don't really know which one I want to go with, yet.

This is my first foray into the genre, I'm thinking it will be a lot of fun. Even if I manage to hit on every cliche in the book!

Any feedback on the above plots would be appreciated. I have no idea which way is up right now...

Re: The lounge meet cute

Hi Triskellgirl.
Although, as you said it yourself, it sounds very cliché (cliché means just that it has been used so many times because it works, so I think it's not exactly a bad thing.. when going out of your way to avoid clichés is when you're most likely to fall in even worse ones :) ) I immediately liked the first one because it gives you a lot of opportunity to work out the characters. They may seem overly cliché on the surface, but that's because it's only a two-line plot. You can still make them go anywhere.
The second one on the other hand... It makes me think of a movie that I saw not so long a go, which was absolutely terrible. The plot lines (just as here) seem quite interesting but it puts me off because of that. Sort of reverse psychology or something.
I think it's also because the part about her not being to trust her heart sounds too flat.. It doesn't give me any information as to why that is, just that it is and usually that's where characters tend to grow flat instead of round.
If you want to talk more with me about your plot I'd love to :) they both intrigue me a lot (and I still need to find out everything about my plot as well.)

Hope you can do something with my reply :).

I agree with Romancegirl, actually. It may not be that the first plot line is actually better, but it is certainly presented better in this post, and I would definitely encourage you to follow that one. However, to use one of those cliches you're so afraid of, you need to 'follow your heart': it's your book, so write whichever story comes out, as it were. :)

Hey! So this is my third year nano-ing, second year writing romance...and I'm hoping to actually "win" this time!
My story is a Victorian-era romance, nothing new under the sun but I think it'll be fun to write and (hopefully) fun to read. I'm writing it with the Harlequin guidelines in mind, with the far-off hope of eventually having something to submit.

Yeah, Harlequin (or Mills and Boon as they are over here) I said it. Go on and hate me if you wish ;)

Re: The lounge meet cute

Thanks! I'm happy to be a sounding board, as well. I was very caught up in the 'girl + chef' orginially - I'm in an insane obsessive cooking stage right now, so it seemed like a good place to start - take all my guilty pleasures and throw them together! The idea is that FMC married her college sweetie, they were desperately madly in love...and then realized they had nothing in common and it all went terribly wrong. So, she knows that being desperately madly in love isn't the way to go. This time, she's going to take her time, do other things (like cooking classes with said chef) and then, later, find a guy through reputable, well-thought-out means.

The punk rock/good girl combo is SO cliched, but I think I could bring something fresh to the table...and the summary comes much more easily.

I'm working on full summaries as well - so that when I finally decide what I'm doing, I can post one. Somewhat unexepctedly, the chef summary is falling considerably flat. Seeing the summary above, I'm sure it comes as no surprise to you...but it did to me! I've been plotting it for a month!

In any case, thank you so much for your offer. I may well continue to bug you, and you can feel free to do the same.

Re: The lounge meet cute

I really enjoy the edgy relationships - I've written them in fanfiction, but never built one from the ground up. I think the things you have to focus on are the emotions that drive the violence, and you have to make sure you're very careful with dealing with things like domestic violence vs. anger in a healthy relationship.

I guess I would say - if there's violence toward a partner, you either need to establish an unhealthy, dependant relationship without a happy ending, or provide the reader with a believable journey through an honest and heartfelt improvement, to a place where the relationship can be happy and free of violence. An example might be someone dealing with PTSD or addiction - they could work through their issues and become a better person.

Of course, 'violence' is different for every relationship context. Throwing plates is a valid expression of anger in some relationships, and BDSM can be an agreed upon way to increase intimacy and trust. To a lot of people those things would be considered dark, but it depends on context.

I have no idea if I'm helping, but that's my 2c for what it's worth! Dark can be a lot of fun! I won't claim to be an expert, but I'd be happy to talk about it more if you'd like. Mail or reply.

Hi. I'm Realm, and I'm addicted to romance.

No matter what I try to write, it ends up with some sort of romance in it. Either a nice one, or a somewhat twisted dysfunctional one. So I've accepted it, the romance shelf in our home library is over stuffed (and that doesn't even count all the books piled up around my office).

Last year I attempted a Regency (had to give that up, I just can't do the whole nice girl, virgin heroine thing ... next time I attempt one, it'll have to be a widow or something). This year it's a crazy sci-fi adventure with a mad scientist, a genetic experiment, and the farmer she crashes into. Still working out all the details on that one.

Ello, I'm Tessa. This is my second year doing NaNoWriMo, although it's the first time I've managed to get a hang of the forums (I'm just that smooth apparently). My first story was a modern re-telling of Romeo & Juliet through turning it into a gay romance. And since I've decided to do a sequel of that story I'm back in the romance genre again :D

The novel for this time is called Titubant. It's about a teenage boy who decides its time for him to attempt to live on his own for awhile. He winds up heading off to Paris with a girl that his family appoint to be his guardian, but acts more as his friend. The rest of the plot circles around the romances (amongst other things) that each discover when they arrive in France.

Good day to you all.

My general goal this year was to write a romance based plot, but then, as always, it grew into something else.

My central focus still will be the romance, though, admittedly, I'm not quite sure how I'm going to work it in properly, I'm somewhat new as an author of this genre despite my many attempts to incorporate romance into my works(Really good at killing off the MCs in the gruesomest ways possible though).

This year, I'm writing a story using an insert of myself as the MMC, so it'll be a rather intimate experience for myself(as it was intended), and while many may frown upon this, I do believe I'll be able to write a better story with more in-depth experiences.

I'm a guy who has always been in love with love itself, so I believe this shall prove quite fun for me.

I'd love to share details of what I want to do, but it is so very tricky to sum it up properly, so instead I'll be scattering bits and pieces of it all over the forums. I've also scattered some of it on PersonalityCafe already... lol.

This story isn't focusing on Romeo very much, actually XD He was the main focus of my last Nano along with Julian, who was my male version of Juliet. This time I'm taking a good deal of the secondary characters that I fell in love with while writing the first and making them the main characters. So the person heading off to find himself in this case is Paris, who is probably somewhere around nineteen at this point. Rosaline (my copy of the play used that name for her) is around twenty herself and wound up becoming his "guardian" because his family (which consists of an older brother and cousin) both trust her enough to look after him (and she really wanted to go anyway).

Hi Everyone! I'm Jenn. This is my first time doing NaNo, and I'm really excited to get started. Though I've written a few stories before, I'm relatively new to the whole process. The novel that I'm going to attempt for this year is a Paranormal Romance / Urban Fantasy. It's about genetically engineered Hybrids (Vampire/Human) and one crazy, BAMF Witch who's trying to wipe everyone off the face of the planet. And there will be romance too -- maybe a love triangle. I'm still working out the kinks.

Anyway, just wanted to check in and say hi!

Hey!

I'm Bella, and this is my sixth NaNo (4 lost, 1 win). Last year my story was erotica/romance. This year, I'm rewriting an old short story I wrote, into a novel, and it will be more of a tragic romance. I'm kind of like Nicholas Sparks, in that I like making people cry from my love stories.

The story is called Still The Straw Man Feels No Pain (yes, I know, it's a loooong title, but that's the beauty of it), and revolves around a boy and a girl who have always been destined to be in love. Unfortunately that love has to battle many issues, including death.

Hope to make some new friends here in the romance section! :D

Hi!

I attempted NaNo in '09, but my story flamed out and died. I still managed to keep writing and even got published. I want to use NaNo this year to crack down and work out a plot bunny that smacked me in the face a few weeks ago. It's a contemporary romance. If you know the song She Let Herself Go by George Strait (I think), it's loosely inspired by that. I'm excited to really tackle NaNo this year, and excited by the plot ideas rolling around in my head!

Hey all! I'm in love with romance and will be attempting NaNoWriMo again this year with it. The basic idea I have for now is a fantasy romance novel. I've just started attempting to flesh out the story so I hope I can pull it off and get the "win" this year. At this point it looks like it will involve witches, familiars, big bad, a mistaken destiny, a prophecy, and a nice heap of romance as well. ;) I'm open to anybody who wants to be a writing buddy for motivation, support or just someone to bounce ideas off of. Feel free to add me once the buddies start working.

Good luck to the newbies and veterans. Welcome to another month of madness coming to a notebook/computer near you! ;-D

Hi there! My pen name is Twyla E. Brooks and this year is my first time participating in NaNoWriMo.

I'll be working on a story that is based in the mid to late 1700's. I'm still figuring out whether it will be semi-fantasy or completely historical fiction. I've never considered the idea of it being 100% romance-y, but when I think of it, it probably is. I'm going to try and avoid too much cliche with it, but I want it to have a sort of Jane Austen style feel to it.

I have never completed any of my novels due to the loss of momentum, so I'm hoping NaNo will give me the kick in the rear I need. :P

Hey everyone! :D

I'm Ruby. I basically write romance to make up for the utter lack of it in my life. >.< Now that you know how lame I am...

My plot this year(literally thought of it less than 24 hours ago) is about a young couple(17-18) and the girlfriend gets kidnapped by a sexual predator. This 22-25ish year old guy thinks that he's in love with these girls he kidnaps, but when he finds out the feeling isn't mutual, he kills them. Basically it's a race against time for the boyfriend, family etc. to find her before it's too late.

This definitely isn't what I normally write. Normally, it's happy-go-lucky-sunshine-and-butterflies kind of romance with little to no conflict. Decided to change it up this time(not really, but this is the idea that came to me first, so imma roll with it).

I just hope my mom doesn't find it. Last time I wrote something not all rainbows and butterflies, my mom thought there was something wrong with me.

Here's to hoping.

Good luck to everyone this November! :D

Hello!

I'm Sophie, and I write romances usually set in my homeland (Wales) or my current country of occupation (England).

I like light romance, with lots of friendship and banter, and just enough angst to keep things interesting.

I've done nano on and off since 2004, won some years, other years... not so much.

This year I'm writing the third novel in a set of companion books set in a fictional collection of towns in North Wales. The first two, An A to Z of Love and Room for Love will be out from Lyrical Press as e-books next year. This third book is called Summer of Love. Because who doesn't feel hot and summery in the middle of November...

Possibly I could have planned this better.

Good luck everyone!

Hi, My name is Lynette and it's my 4th year with NaNo. I like the challange of writing a novel in a month and I've won my first three years. Though I wrote a romance last year, this is the first time I found this group. I hope to check in on the forums more frequently this year.

I write several types of books - Mystery, Romantic Suspense, /Contempary Romance, and Historical Romance. The novel I worte last year, 'Quinn's Promise' is under contract and will be published in 2012. It was set in 1860's in the American West. I plan to write the same type book this year.

Since my other published novels came out under the name Lynette Hall Hampton, I decided to use a pen name for my Western Romances. I've chosen Agnes Alexander. (Agnes for my mother's mother, and Alexander for my father's father) I like keeping my family involved.

Good luck to everyone this year. I lood forward to seeing all those bars turn purple.

Hi Everyone,

This is my first Nano. Finally decided to do it :) I'm excited. Anyway, I'm a hobbyist when it comes to writing Romance fiction. Particularly African American or Interracial romance. I like for my stories to have a lot of diversity. I also tend to add other genres in as well to make it more interesting and I just can't write the happy go lucky romance either. I have to have some reality to it even if the sub genre is fantasy that's just how I like to do things. Anyway this year I'll be working on a Romance, Sci Fi story. The story may not be for the faint of heart because I tend to go on the dark side, but occasionally I'll write comedy romance. So anyone feel free to buddy me if you like and I'll return the favor. Looking forward to my first attempt and win :D

Hi, I'm Jen and have participated but never won Nano, since 2007. Some years had me moving or planning to move five states or so away. Some years had me in emotional limbo. Some had me way too depressed to do anything but think of my own horrible existence... so hopefully nothing detrimental will happen in the 16 days until November 1st this year! If it does happen, I plan on using the emotions to fuel the story I plan to write.

The story is about two sisters, Ever and After Jasper. Ever is the wild and crazy no-good sister that runs away and enters The Big Bad Dangerous Deadly Drug-filled World. After is the librarian type who has to stick around and try to live her life without too much chaos. Ever goes missing, though, and After perhaps goes a little insane. After starts to see an invisible friend. He keeps telling her where Ever is...the details, anyway. Is Invisible Friend (name as yet to be decided) a figment of After's mind, or is she psychic? Oh, and the love thing will probably end up being in there with After. I don't want to do the generic cop-victim's-family-member thing, though. We'll just have to see. Maybe it's the Invisible Friend (who's really in a coma? lmao!). I just think a story isn't satisfactory unless there's at least a smidgeon of romance thrown in there. Hopefully it works out. Who knows.

But I find the atmosphere of Nano encouraging and I'm looking forward to having a novella to edit and submit later this year.

I'm writing a present day alien abduction novel, but entire cities are abducted, including the bad guys. It has a significant suspense element. Serial killers in Spaaaace....My heroine is trying to keep her family together and alive, my hero is there to serve and protect.

Hey everyone. I'm James from Oklahoma. This will be my forth Nano, but I will NOT let it be my fourth LOSS. :) I accidentally started writing romance several years ago. How does one 'accidentally' write romance? So glad you asked! I noticed a while back than the M/F relationships in my stories were always kind of awkward and rigid, so I started reading romance and writing it to help me get a better feel for making them work better in my other stories. After a while, though, my other stories became romances. I usually do romantic suspense/thrillers, but this year I'm trying a more contemporary romance that deals with the after effects of spousal abuse, coping, learning to love again, etc. However, I'm sure there will be a bit of suspense involved as well, because...well...it’s just what I do. Can't wait to get to know you all! Have a good one.

Re: The lounge meet cute

This is my second NaNo, but that first one was 2007. I had no clue what I was doing and had never even heard of goal, motivation, conflict or any of the other things that now come as natural as breathing. Names like Donald Maass meant nothing to me. (I've since seen him speak four times.) RWA meant nothing to me. Now it's how I met some of my best friends. It took me 3 1/2 years to shape that book into something I'm proud of. I took Holly Lisle's How To Revise Your Novel course when an agent said I was writing paranormal romance not urban fantasy and through that was finally able to tame the monster my first book had become. I started submitting a few weeks ago and have a few partials out.

That was then, this is now. I am currently taking Holly's How To Think Sideways course. I'm also following Larry Brook's series of posts about prepping for NaNo. I need to prove to myself I can write and edit a book in 4-6 months. I have scene cards all over the walls of my office. I can do this.

This book is Azazel's Mark, the sequel to the book that took me 3 1/2 years to finish.

One of the last female descendants of Abel must sacrifice everything to save her estranged military family from the fallen angels who were responsible for Abel’s death.

Azazel’s Mark, a 95,000 word paranormal romance, reimagines Judeo-Christian stories to highlight the inherent goodness in man. The Grigori are angels who wanted free will. They convinced Cain to murder Abel so they could drink his blood and become vampires. Every four generations they must drain one of Abel’s female descendants or they will lose their free will. A West Point dropout is one of these descendants.
I'm Heather, and this is my first NaNo. I actually found out about it in December last year, and I've been toying with the idea all year.

Vivian (still working on the name) is a private eye in Chicago. She is hired by a politician in Iowa who has been getting death threats. She finds herself in the middle of Iowa and meets the politician's son, Mason. I'm not sure if I'm going to focus more on the romance between Mason and Vivian or the mystery.

I used to write and write and write, but life got in the way, so I'm quite rusty.

Hi, I'm Sherry, and beyond writing romance, have no idea what I'm going to write this year. I write mainstream contemporary romance with a touch of mystery and suspence. Two of my NaNo projects have been published within the past twleve months, The Brat and Duty Calls. I am a member of the Romantic Novelists' Association of GB.

This will be my sixth NaNo experience. Seeing there are a few 'rebels' here this year, I may join you, as I'm still working on another NaNo project which is defying all my previous attempts to come to a satisfactory conclusion.

When the buddie system is up and working I'd love to connect with all of you.

Hi! I am writing the second novel in my series of contemporary inspirational romances based on the 1 Corinthians 13 definition of love. My first novel, "Forgiving Love", came about because of my win in last year's NaNoWriMo. I self-published on Create Space with the free proof copy I earned.

This one is called "Love Never Dies" about a UFC fighter named Paul who is struggling to regain his champion status. The love of his life, Caitlyn, is a personal trainer who isn't sure if she is part of the solution or a hindrance to his dream. Their faith in God will cause them to grow in ways they never expected as they fight for their lives in and out of the Octagon.

I hope to have an outline to follow this year. I hope it will have suspense in it too.

Happy Noveling!

Hi!

I've tried NaNoWriMo a few times, but last year was my first success. I like to use NaNo to discipline myself to write every day.

Last year I wrote a contemporary fantasy. This year I thought I would give a paranormal romance a try. I tend to have romance in my stories anyway. My story this year deals with a newly minted angel struggling to give up his humanity when he falls unexpectedly for the human he needs to work with to stop demons, while she struggles with trust issues she had with him when they were acquaintances years ago.

We'll see how it goes :)

Hi all,

This is my first NaNo and my first attempt at writing fiction of any kind. Yikes! I'm happy to know this forum is here for when I freak out - likely on November 2.

My story will be a romance, set at a Pony Express home station. My main characters are an "older" (30) express rider and a young German woman working as a domestic at the station.

You can call me Sugar. This is my first venture into this genre as a writer so I'm excited!

I hope I'm still actually welcome to hang about here. My story is SORT of in this genre... mostly is? Well enough that I feel like I may need your advice and inspiration sometimes, anyway. It's a parody of and an homage to pulp romance-- you know, the ones you can sometimes pinch off your grandma that only take an hour or so to read. I've been warned this isn't the kind of genre that fans will appreciate a parody of but I am doubtful of that, and even if it's so I'm writing it for my own satisfaction more than anything else so I basically don't care. XD

My chief inspiration are Mills and Boon at the moment but I'm eager to throw in as many references as will make it flavorful. I hope you all can help, or at least cheer me on, in making it entertaining. In the true spirit of pulp romance, I'm much more concerned it be entertaining than masterful. ;)

Hi! I'm Daniela, and am writing a romantic comedy adventure! This is the second year that I'm doing nanowrimo, and I can't wait for it to start!
This is my first long romance ever, so I'm a bit worried because of that, but can't wait for the challenge of it. This is also going to be one of my first contemporary stories, I usually do fantasy, so there’s another challenge for me lol.
My story is about a 22 year old girl named Ariana finds out her fiancé has been cheating on her at her bachelor-et party, she decides to go to Australia to do an article and spread in a magazine about the wildlife and environment. There she finds adventure, herself, and maybe love.

Re: The lounge meet cute

Er, hi. You can call my Yaragorm (or any nickname of that besides Yara) and this is the first time I'm writing for Nano.

Basically my story is a romance about two people, ages unknown for now, one boy and one girl, who love each other but cannot seem to tell each other this due to their over-self-consciousness and uncertainty. They cycle through a bunch of different feelings and at some point in the middle, the boy becomes the girl's slave who she uses for monetary gain. I haven't decided on a title or even the names of the characters yet, but the setting is likely to be in the near-future (year unknown as of now) and while the boy and girl are trying to finally accept their feelings for each other, changes are radically happening all around them and their world. Stuff like complete worldwide chaos, natural disasters, etc. There's gonna actually be quite a few comedy moments in addition to some dramatic ones too.

This story is going to be somewhat based on my own life.

Hey everyone. I'm Jo and this is my first NaNoWriMo. This is going to be interesting logistically because I'll be a week in England, a week in The Netherlands and two weeks in New Zealand over November. And I think my story is going to be set in the States. Ho hum. Ma'am, can you take your laptop out for security screening please? *sigh*

I'm relying on Write or Die to get me through the month, as it does daily with my writing, but I've never had a word war so that could be interesting, although goes against my instincts to avoid competition at all costs.

I usually write sweet romance/comedy, but for this year's project I'm writing a romantic suspense. Given the heroine is a PhD, I'm going to have to put on my intellectual glasses for this one ...

Another hello here. :)

In my fictional dealings, I'm Emily. I write for the digital publisher Ellora's Cave and I have books available at digital publishers Liquid Silver Books and Freya's Bower. To date, I've written/seen published, um... 15? novellas and short stories, with another one coming up from Ellora's Cave in December. I've NaNo'd before but haven't "won" in several years for various reasons (last year, for example, I decided it'd be an awesome time to return to college - yeah, not so much). Winning this year might be a challenge, too, as I'm currently 7 months pregnant with my first child and Nov 1-30 will be the 7 1/2 - 8 1/2 month. It is entirely possible I'll either be too tired to make it to 50k...or that I'll get so little sleep, NaNoWriMo writing will see me through all the middle-of-the-night "baby's kicking, I can't sleep" hours.

I'm not sure yet what I'll be working on but I'm sure it'll alternately make me believe I'm brilliant and make me believe I'm a total hack. :)

The plot is a bit blurry, but I decided I really need to write this story down-it's been in my mind for years, and it's been a constant subject in my dreams.

I'm a bit lost regarding antagonists, though-the characters are all struggling with their own demons, so I'm not sure if I should put in actual people that'll bother the living hell out of them. But regardless, yay, romance!

Hi, I'm Amanda, 22 from Ireland. It's my first year doing this and im determined to finish the novel i have had in my head for about a year now.

Im a bit of a "mill's and boon" addict, so im taking that influence and modernising it while removing some of the annoying cliche's. My novel is about a young woman who accepts a job as a live in nanny for a very sexy single father and his troublemaking twin boys. Im planning for it to be a coming of age/ love conquers all theme. while including some very raunchy sexual tension and love scenes!

Im open to chatting about this genre and offering advice and support to fellow romance writers.

Hi, I'm writing a mystery/romance, and hang out a lot on the Mystery Forum, but I'd like to drop in here to get my romantic batteries recharged from time to time, if that's ok.

My novel throws two people together when they're both drawn to investigate a murder that hearkens back to a twenty-year-old incident. She's buxom, sweet, and forthright. He's brash, outspoken and used to being in charge. They're both stubborn, determined, ambitious people. Also both redheads. I think they're a lot of fun together and I hope readers will, too. If it works, there may be more mysteries, and they may get a stage on which to explore their relationship.

Re: The lounge meet cute

Hello, I'm Miranda! This is technically my second year trying NaNoWriMo, I don't know if last year counts since I wrote a grand total of 0 words. (Ph.D took over!)

I'm still terribly torn between two stories to write this year:

1. Historical Romance set in the early to mid 19th century New Orleans, amidst the Yellow Fever. FH is a widow who spends a lot of time helping the Ursuline nuns, and when sneaking around in a masquerade, she comes across a vampire (MH). One of the Ursuline's wards has run away with someone purporting to be a vampire so FH goes to MH to ask him (guilt/blackmail) to help find her. He has a vested interest in finding BadVampDude. Nuns, Russian pirates, Weepy ghost chicks, oh my! Cons: might require me to do lots of superficial research and slow down writing process.

2. Because of the potential cons of #1 I might write a nearly off the cuff story set in contemporary Europe where FH is traveling throughout Europe (either for vacation or for Ph.D research or a bit of both) and she's decided that she'll be more liberated and have some wild sex if she meets a man she likes (or two). One man catches her eye, and she keeps running into him as she travels throughout Europe, and there's tons of hot sex. I might throw in a plot twist and have him following her with an ulterior motive of keeping an eye on her research. Instead of her finding out and it being all weepy and full of betrayal 'how will I ever forgive you!' stuff, the rest of the trip turns into a sort of cat and mouse game with elements of Mr and Mrs Smith/BDSM and more hot sex.

So yes, I'll write about either one of these. But I'll also be going to Strasbourg for research so Lord knows how much NaNoWriMo I'll actually get done.

That sounds really awesome. I do have a love for slightly villainous characters. It makes me think of Sherrilyn Kenyon's 'One Silent Night,' and also a bit like Kresley Cole's 'Kiss of a Demon King.' These are probably nothing like yours, but that is what springs to mind :P.

Hi guys I'm Joanne. This is my second year doing nanowrimo. I love reading paranormal romance and this is what I'm going to write this year.

My MF lives in London and has psychic visions. My MC is tiger shape-shifter who is an exiled prince. Not sure yet whether to use the idea of 'mates' or not in this story. I am also going to try and go along with harlequin guidelines for this. :)

Hi, I'm Lea and this is my first NaNo, though I've been writing (only published a few poems) for the last 12 years. I'm hoping that NaNo gives me the kick in the pants to finish one of my big stories and, since most of my stories are, I'm writing a romance - historical fiction (more fiction than historical). My characters are both strong characters who butt heads from the minute he kidnaps her until....well, until. ^__~

Set in 14th century northern England and norther Scotland (mostly Scotland) during the time of Edward III, David II, the Hundred Years War, and the Battle of Neville's Cross - but those are shaping events in a distant, abstract sort of way.

This is my eighth (winning) NaNoWriMos (7 years as an ML) and I’ve done 7 NaNoEdMos. I write contemporary romance with a touch or hint of paranormal and usually a LEO character of some type.

I belong to Romance Writers of America and NJRW, Sisters in Crime and SinC-CJ, Liberty States Fiction Writers, Savvy Authors, and a critique group.

Since I consider myself a short story writer, most of my NaNoWriMos end up as novellas rather than novels. I say most because my first novel was 125K.

I wish you all the best on you NaNoWriMo journey.

Hi everyone. This is my second time attempting a romance for Nano - I tried two years ago, but I couldn't get momentum going because I was trying too hard to be a traditional romance. This time, I am hoping to make it different to avoid that pitfall. I can't write love scenes worth a dime, so I am not going to try. Lots of longing looks and heartfelt sighs, though.

I'm going to write a very smart-ass vampire love story. I know, I know. Vampires have been done to death, but not like this, I promise. At first I considered putting it in Chick Lit, because it's way more Christopher Moore than Stephanie Meyer, but honestly, it belongs here.

Best of luck to everyone!

I'm writing a Regency story, and shooting for a campy, high drama/low stakes tone. Last year I tried a horror novel, and I didn't get far--partly because writing such a dark story during the cold winter was bumming me out too much. Horror is for summer, apparently!

This will be my first try writing a romance-geared story; it's sorta sci-fi in that it involves androids. The tone will be fluffy, but with just enough drama to be interesting without going over the top (maybe); in short, like the girly shojo manga I enjoy reading of late. Hey, shoot for what you love, not a masterpiece, right? :)

Hi,

Your basic plot is interesting. I never have found a romance novel with musicians other than suspense-thriller or murder-mystery. The type of conflict and resolutions for the plot have numerous possibilities; which depend on the type of time period, country and age of your characters. I am excited to read about any progress you make on this story.

Hi, I'm Sharon and this is my first attempt at NaNoWriMo. I am confident I will succeed because I have kicked my internal editor out of the house. I will be writiing a contemporary romance because it appears to be the simplest genre. I love reading paranormal, and romantic suspense, and regency, and period romance, but I am not skilled enough (yet) to weave the other aspects into a story.

I think I am considerably older than many of the other writers in this forum (66) but I am writing about much younger characters. I will be mining my memory for what it was like back when.

I'm right there with you, Ruth. I'm writing a romantic suspense. I was torn between here and the thriller forum, BUT romance is a major part of the story (I wouldn't have it any other way!) so I feel more comfy here.

My novel is listed as a romance with the title of Night Kill. I'll bet there will be some double takes and snickers over that.
LOL

Good luck everybody!!

I'm trying something different this year with Nano and attempting a genre I don't usually read.

This is my third attempt at Nano, won the first year, and bombed out the second because my idea was too big and complex to write with a time limit hanging over my head. This year, I decided to start as far away from my preferences both in reading and writing to see if I can find something more basic and fresh to explore with writing.

I know I'm probably better off sticking with a genre I'm familiar with, but I want to write something totally for me, rather than worrying about whether it's been done before for publication or not, so I think I'll do okay. And I hope that I will learn something new by going outside of my usual interests.

I haven't got a concrete idea for a plot yet, but I'm just going to start and see where it takes me. This year is about writing for the sake of enjoying writing.

Hey there.
I'm Jemima and this is my third attempt at Nano. The first year was, um, rocky, and last year was flat out brutal and I'm not sure that I ever got past the first page. This year I feel like the stars are aligning in such a way that I may get at least a few chapters in.

I'm writing a medical romance based on Mills & Boon's requirements, mostly because this will be my first real foray into creative writing, and I feel the need for some kind of guideline. I'm not intending to publish, but just want a framework that helps guide me. I'm entirely unsure that this is going to work, but am super excited about giving it a try.

Hello! I know i'm ratehr late to the party so it's unlikely anyone will see me all the way back here, but i thought i'd pop in anyway and say hi.

I am Amy, and this is my first year doing NaNoWriMo, and so i'm going to act on an idea i've had brewing for a good six months now, and write a non-linear romance about two women on the Greek island of Lesbos.

Here's hoping it goes well. And good luck to all of you, too.

I'm 38 and I'm going to try my hand at writing about characters who are in their 80's finally finding romance with each other after 60 years of being apart and living separate lives so I think I'm in the same boat as you are in but from the younger person's perspective. I was originally going to attempt a Fantasy which I've never done but this story has been nagging at me for months. I just wasn't sure what perspective to work from but I think I've got it now. Good luck to you!

Hello everyone.

I'm Victoria, this will be my fourth year. My goal is to finish this time with a couple of extra words over my goal of 50,000. This introduction post is late, at least I did it. My story is paranormal romance and maybe historical added on, definitely interracial romance. What is that four genre or three sub genres? The story follows a African-American female who is looking for her life purpose at a spiritual retreat. She falls in love with a Navajo man that is struggling with his role as leader to his community and being a werewolf. He has to decide to use words or blood to save the communitiy I am falling by the sit of my pants this year, more fun that way.

Hi! My name is Amy, I'm a college student in New Jersey, and this is my first year attempting NaNoWriMo even though I've heard of it before. I'm writing a romance between a young man and woman who are struggling with many things outside of just their relationship, which put a hindrance on it - such as deportation (in the man's case), the questions of marriage, and the two of them opening each other's eyes to what love really means.

I was kind of iffy putting my genre as romance, because I also deal with hard topics such as immigration and everything, but the heart of my story is the two of them, and they meet right away so it was the only one that fit!

Anyway, nice to meet you all! If anybody wants to be a writing buddy, that'd be great! I would love to have someone I could send a message to when I'm getting frustrated, or thought of something I loved, or vice versa. :)

She's a middle class merchants daughter. He's the Naga ruler of a neutral territory bordering a religious dominated country that hates non humans. Its not only a clash of cultures, but also a clash of ideals and comfort zones. I'm hoping to put an origional enough spin on it to make things interesting :3

Generally I play over in Erotica land, but a friend challenged me to write a romance, so I'm making the attempt. I'm hoping it goes well. But it's only day one, so I'm not expecting amazing results as I step timidly into writing something sweet and soft. :)

Guh, okay so nix my earlier post. At the last minute inspiration struck and I went down a completely blind path with a werewolf-style romance. Like Romeo and Juliet meets Cats and Dogs, sans the sappy double suicide at the end. It very well might cross into a bit of erotica, I have no idea. But I do know that it will have a happy ending, somehow - because there are more than enough less than happy endings in real life, thank you. ^__^

Hi, y'all,

I am Lam. This is my first NaNo, so I am pretty much clueless. Didn't even know this forum existed until just now. Duh!

So excited to be here. So many awesome writers and so many excellent ideas. Amazing creativity blooming. Every idea I have seen in here sounds like wonderful read.

Now I am totally new to writing. I don't write, I just read romance novels. Mostly paranormal and historical.

This years my 15 year old daughter is doing NaNo for the first time too, and I decided to do it with her. How about that for setting a good example? ^_- (BTW, she doesn't read or write romance. Darn!)

My NaNo this year is going to be a paranormal romance. Main Character is Foxy Hu, a Chinese Fox Fairy who is a bar owner in the US, living the dream life, until she gets accused of murdering the Alpha of the local werewolf pack. No one believes she is innocent because she has always made it clear that she hates wolves, since some wolf ate her entire family back in China 500 years ago or something. She survived only because a beautiful immortal boy saved her. So now the werewolves are out to get her, especially the son of the old Alpha, Jason. But when Jason sees her, he realizes Foxy is his mate. Now can he get over his suspicion of Foxy and work with her to find his father's true murderer and claim her as his? While Foxy is attracted to Jason, she still can't forget the immortal boy who saved her live so many years ago. And most imortantly, Jason is a wolf. How can she love a someone who can easily bite her head off? (PTSD is hard to get over. ) Plus, the villain lurking in the dark is going to wake havoc if they don't find him (or it) first.

Right now that's it. I'll see where the story takes me. It is going to be a wild ride...for me, anyway. ^_-

Day 3 and still having fun. Hope to keep it going.

Good luck, y'all.

-Lam ^_^

Hi, I'm Kaylee :) This is my first offical year of NaNoWriMo, since I started a little late (I only discovered it in December) last year. This year, I'm trying something different from my usual 'head-over-heels-on-the-first-day' for the guy, and try something a little more realistic. Basically, the guy my main character is going to end up with is going to take her through many ups and downs, while also adding his unwanted little witty commentary in the middle of it. In the process, both of them are changed, one learning to reign in her emotions, and the other learning how to keep his mouth shut and learning to be a little more kind. I'm excited to actually get into it, since it is also fantasy, but mainly, it is driven by romance.

Good luck everyone!

I love to read them (well mostly Heyer, but I'm hoping to find more authors I love!). I never thought I'd write one, but it's going O.K. so far. (I'll probably need to work on a lot of research and editing after it's finished, but hey, as long as I finish a draft first, right?) :D

I'm definitely on the "sweet" end of romance. I'm not real confident about this story but having a lot of fun with it so far. :-)

Danger lurks when a powerful Earl, intrigued that she is not what she seems, determines to uncover what she's hiding... Can she persuade him to keep his silence? And how long can she conceal the threat to her reputation from her father's political rivals-- and her strait-laced fiance?

Hi everyone! This is my second NaNo - though I took a stab at Camp NaNoWriMo in August. I've never finished, but this time I think I can do it. I spent some time in October plotting out a solid chapter-by-chapter outline, with some gaps of course (in case some unexpected surprises show up) and I'm feeling pretty confident!

I'm writing a seasonal romance about a woman whose family owns a Christmas tree farm. I've always loved holiday romance novels, so I thought I'd get myself into the spirit a month early and give it a go!

Hello there!

This is my first go around at NaNo, and my first efforts at fiction writing since high school (over 10 years ago! What the heck am I thinking???).

Anyway, I'm trying my hand at a historical romance set on a rural farm/orchard in northwest Missouri in the 1850s. It tells the story of May, who learns she has to marry a stranger based on an old marriage contract drawn up between the hero's parents & her mother years ago.

I have ideas for scenes and how I want the whole thing to turn out, but not much else - no outline. I'm just trying to put it down on paper -er, computer screen - whatever. The big thing for me is to actually finish this story, good, bad or ugly.

I am writing a thriller/romance where the MFC has a criminal past and the MMC is the town's sheriff. So, built-in tension right there. He needs her to trust him to stay alive, and she needs him to trust her to keep the bad guys from winning. Simple enough, right?

Hello, Evangeline Crow Here~
I'm entirely new to both romance and homosexual romance, which I'll be writing this year. It's my first year doing NaNo and I originally intended to do a friendship adventure story, but the characters decided it was a romance, and I'm throwing myself fully at that now~
It's a story about two guys who send messages in bottles to each other (sent back and forth through the ocean by a sorcerer), one lives in the city of Atlantis, and the other in a coastal California town.

First year doing NaNo and it's going ok so far! Can't believe I can churn out so many random words in just a few days. My novel's kind of a mixture of historical/supernatural romance. Set in the Underworld of ancient Greece and I'm having loads of fun with it so far.

Hi I'm David and expat Brit in Chicago and i only just realized this forum was here. I'm a forty-two year old Mr Mom and after thirty years of writing hardcore sci-fi and fantasy I am striking a different tune for the first time.... an Urban Fantasy Romance. I am at 30k words and i have never enjoyed writing as much as this before. Being new to the genre is hard and the idea of concluding with HEA is daunting but it is a fun ride,,,, although it may be unique to have romance from a male POV. Are there any other guys out there??

I love having writing buddies .... especially those who enjoy mutual complaining and whining...

great meeting you all :)

Hi! I'm Tammy, and this is my fifth time attempting NaNo. It's really my first romance, though (I'm not counting my first NaNo, where I got sick and dropped out in the first week, but that was supposed to be a romance, too). I haven't finished one yet, but this year looks good so far. I'm actually on target for word count, and they make sense! Woot!

My story this year is set today, more or less, with the owner of a craft shop meeting a widower sheep rancher when she decides to start carrying spinning supplies. So far, she's gone to see him -- er, his SHEEP, I mean; yeah, his sheep -- three times now. Checking out his wool, see. Yeah, that's it.

Anyway, I hope to find lots of help and support on this forum. :-D

Hi, my name is Z. This is my first year doing NaNoWriMo (yikes!) and I'm a little bit flustered, but holding strong. I've been writing since I was 12 (oh, how terrible the writing was though!).
I'm currently writing a steampunk romance with both sci-fi and fantasy aspects tossed in. If I were to try to give you a synopsis, you'd probably laugh at it's ridiculousness!
The idea started out as a joke after reading a rather strange and ridiculous romance novel. I thought "how cool would it be to throw in a bunch of cliche' and random crap?" and after that, it sorta of took on a form of its own, becoming a serious story.
At the moment I'm a bit stuck with the conflict, as I have a classical villain. I'm unsure of how to proceed with how the main characters would go about fighting against her and all that good stuff.
I'd love to get to know any fellow writers like myself. Maybe we could give each other tips, support, and listen to each other vent and well as show off our most proud moments.

Hi I'm Marchelle. this is my second year doing Nano. I won last year with my first Romance (Redenck Heaven) that I had ever actually written down. I self published it through Creatspace in September and have had such an amazing adventure since I started writing last November that I quit my job and started writing full time.

My novel this year is a spin off of last years. The title is Charmed and Enchanted in Redneck Heaven. It is a contemporay romance with alot of off beat humor.

Charmed and Enchanted are my main character names. Charmed is the brother of one of minor characters from the first book. (Westerly) He was hired by eccentric Sarah Hells to renovate her mansion in Hellsville, which is about tweny miles from Heaven, PA. Enchanted is her granddaughter who is in charge of the family finances. She does not use that name! When the two meet he introduces himself and she responds with "Oh Enchanted."

My favorite time to write is at night when the house and the world are quiet. I speed write and then go back the next day and edit what I've written. I have never been good at sticking to an outline for any writing that I've ever done, so I didn't even try with Nano. I just write whatever pops into my head, and I have to tell you, I love living in my brain. Wanna come play in my world?

This is my first nanowrimo, the second time I've tried to write a romance. Both are/were fantasy-romance (because that is what I like to read). The last one was a take off of Beauty and the Beast... this one is totally my own invention.

I'm behind in word count but I feel like my story is alright so far... maybe a little heavy on dialogue at this point? I also don't feel like I'm an especially good writer so I have to keep reminding myself that winning isn't based on how good you are, just if you hit 50K or not!

I've been enjoying the forums here and in Fantasy. I'd love to get to know some other romance writers. Maybe make a buddy or two? I have a synopsis posted under my novel info... so feel free to read it if you want to know more about what I am working on!

Last year I had to skip, but this year I'm really excited. I'm doing a dystopian romance based off the new Coldplay album "Mylo Xyloto." It's actually what changed my entire idea for my novel.

This is also my first year writing a romance novel, so I'm excited to see what the genre is all about (I've also been visiting the Erotic Fiction and Science Fiction forums. Sometimes you can't get all the answers in one place right?)

Howdy.

I'm Molly. I didn't think I was writing a romance novel to start with; I thought it was going to be erotica. It's graphic at parts, but really it's turning out to be more romancey than anything else.

This is technically my second year doing NaNo, but last year I didn't get past the first two days. So it's my first time ACTUALLY doing NaNo...

My novel takes place during World War II in Nazi Germany. Not a lot of books like that out there. I chose my topic by literally flipping a coin. There were two things I was thinking about writing, this one being the more difficult of the two. So I guess I've got next years novel plotted out too.

Hope it's going well for everyone so far.

Hi, I'm Liz, and this is my first year doing NaNo. I've been writing for years, although I never seem to finish anything (the one "story" i finished was 15 pages when i was a sophomore in high school, saving on a bright yellow 3 1/2 floppy disk. It was horrible. The plot shifted a dozen times in those 15 pages, and none of it actually made any sense).

I'm writing a romance with sci-fi elements (time travel, yo). I guess there is also some historical elements too as my characters are jumping back to 1964 for Freedom Summer.

I've just hit 20k, and I cannot believe how well this seems to be going--I guess I'll see what happens in December when I go back to read/edit.

I'm writing a science fiction/romance story, it's set in an alternate Victorian England, and has a steampunk vibe. There's lots of politics, social talk, and war involved as well. Then of course there's the romance! Between my MC Louisa, an air pilot, and an eccentric inventor/scientist. There's also a constable as well, but that's more like a past romance, and she has no interest in him.

I've finished once out of doing Nano 5 times. And after looking at the one I finished, well... it's filled with pages of just words that didn't makes sense to say I that I finished. This is really an attempt at actually writing something that will become a book.

So far the girl has kicked the boy in the balls trying to determine if he's a guy or not, she's found out he is indeed a guy, they've gone to his brother's ex girlfriend's house for Thanksgiving Break, and they just kissed on the Golden Gate Bridge. How's yours coming along? :).

Hey everybody :)
I'm writing a lesbian romance about a girl named Gray who moves to New York from Minnesota and plans to stay in the closet and not start any new friendships or relationships, but, of course, that all gets turned around when she meets Hazel and breaks her promise.
Hurrdurr. So corny, right? xD

A little late but what the hell right? Just call me K... no giving away gender. Anyway, I'm writing the second novel to my paranormal romance series about creatures akin to grim reapers...

It takes place in Baltimore, Maryland.

Hello everybody

I am planning to write a romance novel cause I love happy endings and I watch a lot of soap operas and am romance novel addict. I am going to writing a story about time travel, past lives, body switching, mistaken identity, twins, look a likes, and it will take place all over the world past and present time.

Right now I only have the main characters names down and I may even change that later. I want to start it in Modern Day American and England and have end in the Asia in the past.

Hello!

I'm Christina and I've written two full length contemporary romances through NaNo and I'm currently working on re-writes so I can submit them for publication. I like (and write) funny stories featuring surprisingly strong and smart heroines with terrible luck and smart, caustic heroes who have both sarcasm and nimble fingers :) I like witty, snappy dialogue (like Jen Crusie's "Bet Me") and steamy sex scenes that are full of laughter and joy. I also like characters that are messy and complicated and whose internal struggles are more interesting than the external ones.

My first Nano Romance is set in Detroit and it's about a girl having the worst day of her life and how her life changes when she accidentally carjacks a guy.
