Any authors who do this kind of genre-crossing well? I can only think of Elmore Leonard.
Jane Austen's "Northanger Abbey" is a brilliant satire of the Gothic novels that were popular in that time. Gothics were always dark and contained mysteries. I don't know how much comedy was usually involved, but NA is really funny.No one else comes to mind.
