A Question-Does This Count as Sci-Fi??

I'm ( attempting ) to write a novel about an artifical immortality gene, but I'm not sure if it really counts as " Science Fiction ". The story will probably be set in 2015 but besides the year and the immortality gene, everything else is normal. The story is set in Georgia.
