Enjoyed it and thanks to Lesley Clark my creative writing teacher for suggesting it. No one can call you a Wannabe Novelist. They can call you an Unpublished Novelist, a Lousy Novelist, a Mere Genre Writer, any number of other typically cruel things. You could even call yourself a Leisure Novelist or Amateur Novelist, "amateur" just means "did it because I love it, not just for the money." But you are no longer a Wannabe. You're a Novelist. When somebody asks "What have you written?" you have a title to give them even if it's the crummy working title because you still haven't thought of a good final one. Share it or not. Loftily tell them "I don't want anyone to read it till I'm done editing" or email it to all your friends. We can hang around for the party or keep going and write another one, your call. I'm on my tenth anniversary this year - 2001-2011 and I've never looked back. The site records for 2001 didn't keep on the site, so my re-registering in 2002 is shown as my earliest year. It's kind of muddled, there are inconsistencies and misspellings and scenes completely lacking in foreshadowing. But the first draft is done. I gave my characters the ending they needed. I reached the homestretch and couldn't stop so I stayed up until about 3:30 in the morning. All said and done, I finished with 25 chapters, 171 pages, and 90038 words. Now I can finally let my novel rest for a couple weeks before I have to unleash my inner editor on it. And boy is it going to get ugly because my inner editor has gotten pretty angry at me the past month and a half for some of the atrocities I've written.
