This was my first NaNoWriMo. I just finished my novel, and to be honest, I have been thinking these past few days, that it has really been a bit too much. 50000 words. But it was great, too. Finally, I really HAD TO write, and there was no time to listen to my inner editor.
If I wasn't sure about a certain phrase, "Never mind. Leave it. This is at least a hundred words. Think about your wordcount" that other rebellious voice said, and shut the editor up.
Maybe next year, I'll do my own special version of NaNoWriMo, with a lower wordcount, but on a project that really needs to be done. But maybe I will think differently next year. Or tomorrow, when I've caught up on some sleep :o)

What about you? How do you feel?

This was my first NaNoWriMo, also. I validated last night, and it felt SO good. This has probably been one of the longest 28-day periods in my life ... since it was so intense. I had to put duct tape over my inner editors mouth and just keep on writing (there were several passages that I turned the text to light gray because I hated them so badly, but I didn't delete them yet because of the wordcount goals!) Yeah, it was difficult, but I loved it!!! Even though I hit the 50K word mark, my novel is nowhere near finished yet. I probably have another 30K+ more words yet before the story is all told. And that's okay. I hope to keep the momentum going and finish my first draft by the end of the year. I think I have an awesome story that I'm planning on editing and publishing as soon as possible.

Plus, I have so many ideas for other novels I would love to write. I'm actually hoping to keep writing throughout the coming year -- perhaps not to the tune of 50K a month, but at a rate to still get a few books written over the next year. Even though this was the first book I've ever written, I'm hoping it won't be the only one by the time NaNoWriMo 2012 rolls around. One thing I didn't do this year that I'll never do again is not doing a whole lot of pre-planning. I've already got next October marked as NaNoPlanMo on my calendar. And I'll try to save a really great story idea for next November. So, yes ... I'd do it all over again. In fact, I'm really looking foward to participating in NaNo every year from now on!

Yup bring it on next year. I had to keep telling my inner editor to shut up. And tried not delete anything which a few times the inner editor won,lol but for the most part I was able to make it shut up. And I made it! Yay!

Again please!
I validated this morning and I still feel great about it, though I can feel already that I will miss it. I only started on day 7 so I did the 50K in 3 weeks and I actually found the worcount doable and I found out I really liked having a sort of daily deadline to stick to. However, I didn't produce a thing of great quality. I feel a lovely sense of achieving at just finishing, but I'm looking forward to doing it again, but with more depth. I think the key might rest in planning and starting on time. But now I'm not terrified of a number like 50 000, so I think the process has liberated me to go onto other projects.

This is my sixth year participating, fourth win, and first time overachieving. All I have to say is bring it on! I am going to kick some serious NaNo butt next year and up my word goal!!!

My inner editor still bothers me some, but for the most part, he knows to just leave in November and come back in December.

This is my second year--second win as well. And, while I'm not ready for NaNo 2012 right NOW, by October I'll be raring to go again. The rest of this year will be devoted to finishing this year's novel (Goal is 100K by Jan 1, 2012), and Jan 2012-October 2012 will be devoted to finishing another story, and editing last year's NaNo project. :)

On the upside, I already know what my story will be about next year! XD

My first year, and I won right away. I treated it like any professional translation/writing project: set a certain goal for a day (in this case, a word count) and continue until you reach it. But this is the first time I actually did it for myself and I'm thrilled with how it worked out. Now I hope to carry this over to a novel - actually a prequel to what I wrote here - which has been burning in my mind for many a year and which I never got around to finish.

And I already have an idea for a sequel for the novel I finished yesterday, so I'll be back next year!

Three for three! Woof! I think it feels better than last year, and I attribute a lot of that to having a good outline. Last year, although I reached 50K I left some huge gaping wounds where the words just never came (and still haven't), but this year, I'm only a few key scenes short of a functional draft, and since I know what they *are,* I'm going to try to just keep momentum up until they're finished too.

And I'll be back next year. Boo yeah. Have you tried *telling* people you're writing a novel in one month? Have you seen the *look?* I'm not giving that up! XD

Wow, ZoraSkywalker, that really is some wordcount!

Chris_A, I definitely agree. If I dare to embark on a full NaNoWriMo next year, I need to do more planning, as well.
But I intend to keep on writing throughout the year anyway.
I’ve already got a project planned for December, although it will probably span December, January, and February at least. Maybe I will use it to participate in NaNoEdMo ;o)

Congratulations to all of you who are winners, whether it’s your first nano or your sixth (!!). I am really impressed by your achievements.
And well, actually, we are all winners. But to those of you who want to write some more, before ending nano: Good luck!

Over my 5 years participating I've won every time. I try to write a little more every year, and this year I'm almost at the same as last year (-10: 66K) so I'm aiming for that next year too. At least 65, if not 70k.

So yeah, bring it on! =D

Hopefully I'll have a little more support and a closer irl group to hang out with next year. This was an awesome, mind boggling, crazy and supportive way to get this out of my head and down on paper. I wasn't near anyone, but I had the forums (which I'm a huge fan of now) and the regional support, and it really helped to not feel so alone tucked away in the woods thinking I could do it, and I wasn't insane!

First timer, first win- just validated today! It has been a tough month.Spent most of it in hospital, had a bereavement in the first week-in total I had 8 days and bits of nights to get there, including 14000 words today.
Am exhausted but feeling very pleased with myself. Hopefully next year will be easier and I'll actually make it to some of the meet-ups....
Now,I'm off to collapse in a hot bath and a vat of cold wine! x

I'd love to NaNo all over again. I don't really know any other writers outside the internet and there aren't many writing forums out there so something like NaNo is great for me! NaNo's also helped me to realize just how much I can type in a month given I have a goal.

It's been a hard month. I lost 20K the first week or so and almost gave up, but I just kept writing and here I am now! With the new knowledge that I should back up more, I'm going to do NaNo all over again next year, perhaps see if I can reach 1KK again.

I'm totally coming back for more. I've always been told that I was a good writer, but I never felt I had a story in me that needed to come out. NaNo pushed me to keep prodding, even when I didn't want to, and I am so proud of myself! I probably have another 20-30K to finish my novel, then lots of editing, and then self-publishing! I also liked getting together with a bunch of other crazy writers at a regional gathering. And the forums were wonderful - really helped getting advice from other writers. Lit dorks in the hizzouse!

I feel like NaNo turned on a spark that I didn't know I had. It was so hard to turn off my inner editor, especially since I always try to "cut out the fluff," but was uber-descriptive here to up my word count. Awkward phrases be damned! I'm fortunate enough to be able to write at work, and if I didn't read on my Kindle App on my work PC or write, I'd be bored out of my mind. I plan on this book being the first in a trilogy, and I am so excited!

I love y'all, and I love NaNo.

Three for three, but this year I had a few more advantages than previously, in that I had an outline and am now on some lovely ADD meds... More than doubled my wordcount and my fun.

So I'm *definitely* coming back, now that I know how to really get going.

But first comes <a href="http://www.nanofimo.org" rel="nofollow">NaNoFiMo</a> (National Novel Finishing Month, in December), plus preparing for <a href="http://fawm.org" rel="nofollow">FAWM</a> (February Album Writing Month)...

Congratulations. I hope to see you next year, no matter your word count goal. Believe it or not, the 50,000 gets easier with practice. I still haven't managed to finish before noon on the final day, but last year I finished at 11:58 pm; this year it's 11:28 pm. Not much of an improvement, but I wasn't thinking I would have to cut and paste to finish the novel!

Bring on 2012!

(Please let me have actually finished this novel by then, too.)

Well, that makes eight out of eight for me - I'm starting to feel old, LOL. NaNo has been with me through high school, college, marriage, and now motherhood. I wouldn't be the person I am today if I hadn't done NaNo all those years, and I'll most definitely be coming back for Year Nine in 2012. Getting close to the double digits! I've had 50K years, 60K years, 75K years, and 100K years, and all have been rewarding and thrilling and wonderful and painful and hard and incredible. I've fought through years of depression, years of loss, years of just plain blah. There is no way I'm going to quit. I'm a NaNoer for life!

This was my second year participating; first year writing as a super-busy college freshman. Between August and October 31st, I think I'd managed to write maybe five thousand words. I'm not a procrastinator - that 5k was literally all my free time for three months.

And now, look at that purple bar. Less than an hour to go until midnight on the 30th, and there it is. Fifty thousand words. Thirty days.

BRING IT ON, 2012. I'LL BE WAITING.

I can't wait till next NaNo! I just convinced one of my friends to do it with me, and I am literally like 'Okay, let's just skip to next November, and go through December-October later'. I reached 50k on the tenth, from writing five thousand words a day, then stopped writing until yesterday. So, next year, I want to write through the whole month, I'm going to plan out two books, and write them both!!

I honestly don't know. This has been such a hard thing to win, but it was worth it, I suppose. Right now, I'm so tired that I can hardly process that four minutes ago, I reached 50k. With eleven minutes to spare. Wow, how stressful was that? But I got way farther into my novel than I ever have before, I mean, into the actual storyline. So I think I'll be able to finish the book finally :D I am happy, but I'm not sure I'll do it next year. I suppose we'll have to see :)

Definitely. This year was awesome, and I get a shnazzy t-shirt out of it. So it took sixty hours of my time this month? That's sixty hours I probably would have spent playing flash games and doing school work. Ya know, the stupid stuff. Maybe next year I'll decide to do it more than two hours before and actually have a plot and some characters laid out beforehand. Then again, maybe not.

In July. 2012. And November 2012.

Because in July I will just have finished school andhave plenty of time for some big writing adventure, and I am having such a hard time waiting until November to try this craziness again :D For now, I will stick with finishing and editing my novel though xD

Oh yeah. This is my second (nonconsecutive) year winning. Last year I chose not to participate because my computer was a total piece of crap, and every time it got unplugged it would shut off. Which resulted in a lot of work lost, particularly in Liquid Story Binder (which is awesome, but doesn't have the recovery features of word). I just wasn't going to put myself through that agony. :P But yeah, if I have a computer that marginally works next year, I'll do it! And *maybe* Camp NaNoWriMo too. Although I really need to focus on editing. :D

Arghh. To be honest, I don't know! I'd love to do it again next year, and the year after and the year after, but I have some pretty serious exams next year... No idea how I'm going to fit the workload with NaNo. And the year after I'll be completely free, <em>but</em> I'll have 0 time in October to plan.

Perhaps... NaNo 2014?

I loved it! I'm definitely going to try it next year, though my hopes are not high for winning due to exams and whatnot.

But bring on Camp!

I do Nano since 2007 so ... I'm definitely coming back! As always! :)
November is my favourte month of the year by now. It's a crazy, whacky month full of fun stuff and hiliarity so... yeah.
I can only hope that my overachieving settles down since I'm left with hurting arms right now. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow so I'll probably finally figure out what is wrong with me. /: Hopefully nothing serious.

This was my first Nanowrimo, and I say, bring on 2012! I might not have time for Nano 2012, but I'm definitely going to either do that or Camp Nanowrimo. I loved it, and I'm definitely going to do it again. Then again, this is me talking in January, so I've already had some rest.

When I learned about NaNo in early October 2011, I didn't know if I'd even be able to remember to begin on the 1st of November, let alone write so much per day. I seriously considered doing the YWP with a goal of 30k, but one of my friends told me I'd never make it. :P I have never stuck with a project in this way before, and I know my writing skills have improved. Even though my 2011 novel has been scrapped since it really was just that bad, I am already planning my Camp NaNo one and building a whole world for it. I am definitely doing this again; it has taught me a lot and been a riot! For Camp, I am considering a double NaNo as I can write 3k on a school day without being tired and 5-7k on the weekend. Bring it on!

I started and finished NaNo in 14 days for 2011, so I'm a bit anxious to see when I can finish this year!

I love doing Nano. I'm getting to meet awesome people at write-ins and finally someone's at least remotely interested in what I do. Also, it's fun finally getting some writing done since I'm not much of a writer. Using crazy ideas is also nice for Nano since they might develop in something good.
But 2012?
I don't know. I guess I won't write as much as I did 2011. Got my hands wrecked up from the bonus pressure since work is already hard for my hands. But what I'll definitely do is writing my stuff in English agan, rather than my native language. I wrote in German for so many years but never in English. My Nano novel 2011 proved to me that I can do it. I have no clue about how good I am when it comes to expressing myself though.

Well, there are still some months to go until it's time again. I have to focus on other things right now though. :')
