There is only one rule in the Shoutouts forum: (other than obviously, following other site guidelines)
1) Do not. I repeat, DO NOT, under any circumstances, call anyone a cheater.
It doesn't matter if you believe them or not. This is a self challenge, on your honor. If someone's lying, it doesn't hurt you or diminish your accomplishment in any way. :)
If you can't believe someone's word count... don't worry about it. :)
From our Codes of Conduct:
Do ignore cheaters and trolls
Every year, we get dozens of posts accusing others of cheating at NaNoWriMo. Please—don't worry about cheaters. NaNoWriMo is an honor-system challenge; no one is cheating anyone but themselves if they don't write the novel they said they wrote.
If you see a post that you suspect is a troll (i.e. someone posting something deliberately inflammatory just to get a rise out of people), please do not engage them. Just let it go, they'll move along without any feedback.
Please don't post shoutouts to this thread... they'll be deleted. Create a new thread, or respond to an existing one. This one is for this forum's rules and questions about them.
If you see someone calling another participant out about cheating, please do not engage them; use the "report" button to bring it to moderator attention.
Ideally don't start until Nov. 1st. You'd be cheating if you include the words written beforehand. However if you don't include what you have written then it can be considered fail. A mod can probably answer better.
"...if you don't include what you have written then it can be considered fail." Change word fail to fair. Argh at seeing too many of those fail pictures!
Folks, this thread is not for questions. There are no cheaters here. Only rebels. If you'd like to ask a question about what is okay by the rules, please ask in the Rules and REgs forum, or the "Am I a rebel?" thread in the Rebels forum.

Re: READ THIS BEFORE POSTING: Shoutout Rules
Does a person who begins writing prior to November 1st count as a cheater?
