Two years in a row my region has made it to #1 for average wordcount. I'm now in a new region and we're tearing it up. I'd like to see where we rank. It would be a HUGE motivator for those who are a little behind. It's usually up after the first week. Now we're in the back half of the month. Any word on when it will be up?

Yes. Someone, please, tell us. Because without the motivation of competition, I have stopped writing. Yes, lack of word count scoreboard, it is YOUR fault. (Kidding. It's mine. But until the scoreboard returns, I do feel less-than-usual motivation.)

I miss the word count thing too!!!!! For some reason, seeing that little bar climb even just a bit each day helped me so much.

Agreed... the word count scoreboard is one of the best motivator to keep you going. Just another few words to get past that one, and then some more for the next, and then a few more...
I miss it terribly D:

I haven't NaNoed before so I don't know what it was like - but I'm anxiously awaiting it too! I check every day.

I'm also wondering where it is. Maybe they need more EC2 instances to make it show up or something.

I wish we could at least get some confirmation that this is being worked on.

I am from a smaller region, and normally we do really well in average words compared to a lot of other regions. Sucks to not have that one extra thing to push you.

I'm sorry, but I can't really say. We don't have ETAs on any feature releases, mainly because the question isn't usually a simple one.

It is being worked on, but I can't say when it will be released at this time.

I'm not complaining. I'm not. Just saying that I'm kind of sad that it's been nearly all month with no scoreboard.

Given, this is just selfish, because I'm blowing my old word count out of the water.

Aww, very sad that it's not here! I totally get that the staff have a lot to do (and have been doing a great job of it!) but for next year a comment I would have would be to try and get it up sooner if possible. It's a big motivator for me, and I know it is for a lot of others too.
Is there anything us users can do? The staff have so much on their plate, I wish there was something I could do to help!

Why not launch the site sooner than late October? That way the bugs could get worked out before the end of the challenge. November is over and I still see "coming soon" on much of the site.

There's next to no traffic here until late October, and there's no point launching the site (any new site, really) when there's no traffic. If something was wrong it would still crash at the beginning of November- which I believe was part of the reason for the new site, the crashing and such. After all, what's the point of having all the little bits working if you can't actually use them because the site is down? :)

there's no traffic because anything done on the site before then gets deleted. There was an announcement in my email about the site being up. A week later everything in my author and novel pages got wiped clean as well as the region forum. I redid it all in mid october after it came up again, and it all got wiped again. Finally I just waited until after nov.1.

There's actually quite a lot of traffic here year round. Not as much as during the on-season, but it's definitely an active community site-wide throughout the year!

This year was different than usual; normally, we do relaunch the first week of October. This year, because of the site guts overhaul, we opted to delay that relaunch a couple of weeks rather than release non-functional forums to you. this shouldn't have to happen again next year. :) I'm not sure why your novel info would have gotten wiped twice; we only did th site wipe once (on Oct 17, I believe)

I mean just people in general. I know there's traffic here year round (me included, this was my third year), but there's noticeably less than during October, NaNoWriMo and the month or two that follows. My point was that launching a new site, because the old one crashed when there was a lot of traffic, seems pointless during July or August when there are still noticeably less people around :)

I meant "late September/early October" in my previous post. The late relaunch has thrown me off xD

We normally don't launch in late October... technical delays with the site's relaunch delayed us this year. Normally we launch the first day of October.

This year was an atypical release. We don't usually launch completely new sites with all the guts redone every year. :) Next year will be smoother, because we're going to be launching from an existing codebase, hopefully just one with more features added between now and then.
