So I was walking to my bus stop last night after a hard mini write-in with one of my fellow yorkshire writers when it occurred to me how freezing cold it was... Which then lead my train of thought back to NaNo!
We should have available in the store woolly hats and scarves with the NaNoWriMo crest logo on them. Not everyone taking part in NaNoWriMo is in a warm climate in November and I'm sure, if they were reasonably priced, a number of UK based WriMo's would wear the hat or scarf with pride.
fingerless gloves! Fingerless Gloves!! FINGERLESS GLOVES!!!! YES YES YES (but be prepared, bc although I was one of the lucky few who got the flash drive this year, I know you ran out quickly.
I'd also go for embroidered patches of the logo, sew-on or iron-on. Great for customizing jackets, backpacks, laptop covers...t-shirts for plush toys...
NaNo baseball cap type hats could easily be worn with earmuffs. So while I'd love to see NaNo hats available I don't think it is necessary to make them specifically for cold climate Wrimos.
How about iron-on patches so that we can show our NaNo pride on items that are not currently available through the store? One could be put on a backpack, or a jacket without the need to come up with a whole new product and gamble on inventory that may or may not sell. Just an idea.
Well, yes, but I've got a feeling the winter warmers would almost certainly be a popular purchase by UK based WriMo's if not most of the northern European contingent.
btw.. some months ago, I was on a thread where flash drives were suggested. I don't know if it was that thread that resulted in that item being added to the store, or if it would have happened anyway.. but my point is -- Make those Suggestions!!!
and I'm throwing in another vote for fingerless gloves :-)
I'd really like a calendar - but one that's a little different. For most of the year it could be the page to a month style, but November could be day by day, each day filled with information, hints, tips - the same kinda thing that's in the NaNo Novel Writing Kit/No Plot, No Problem :)
I'm thinking more of a wall calendar, but I'm sure other designs could be just as do-able.
The NaNo desk calendar to keep by your computer? It could be filled with writing quotes. Or dares. Or vocabulary words. Or cute little plot bunnies/monkeys/ninjas with thought bubbles.
Oh, I should add that it would be best if they were sold in the November season for the year after - that way, the most people will be around to see/buy it, and they'll be able to buy one (probably) before getting a calendar for the next year :) So if they were able to be made next year, they'd be printed for 2013.

Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
I'm kind of keen on fingerless gloves. Some cafes I visit in November are outdoors and it can be rather chilly for typing.

Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
I nominate fingerless gloves every year! A NaNo beanie hat would also be awesome.
Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
That would be really cool!
Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
I may have made a nano Wrimo writing hat.. I totally loved wearing it and would love to see more, not all made by me.
Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
Nano beanie... *u* yes.
Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
I approve this suggestion! Especially the scarf. :D

Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
Angelynx: Second that!
(they would also be small enough to send as "letter" instead of a "parcel" and so probably arriving faster even at distant locations)

Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
I live in Wisconsin. I see the appeal. But I think there should be hats for non-Northerners as well.
Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
I vote for hats and fingerless gloves! And iron-on patches!

Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
Do make suggestions... the messenger bags and USB drives both came from user suggestions. :)
Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
How about beach towels for the Down Under contingents? The rest of us would buy them for Camp NaNoWriMo.
Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
I would TOTALLY buy a dozen beach towels. I love beach towels, and a NaNo one? Woosh!
Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
Yes! And then when we went places like beaches, we would all have the perfect excuse to try and recruit more people for NaNo!
Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
I'd also love to see hats and scarves and fingerless gloves! :D

I just had a stroke of brilliance...or insanity...either way:
Inner Editor Voodoo Dolls
Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
And they can come with pins shaped like sporks!
Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
Or maybe tiny travelling shovels of death?
Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
Or perhaps a nice pewter pin with a crossed shovel and spork?
Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
Sounds like a NaNo Pirate Flag! Put the crossed shovel and spork under the Viking helmet and/or coat of arms.
Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
How about a laptop/window cling with the crest logo? I'd totally buy at least two of those.
Re: Merch suggestion [Hats & Scarves]
Peaked caps?
Also a small item that is easy to send across the globe.
(although those would be even more suitable for camp Nano?)
