Sponsor/Technology software forums by platform?

There was a great deal of confusion in the Scrivener threads this year, both in the Sponsor and the Technology forums. The Mac and the Windows versions are not identical, which meant repeated explanations that "you can do this, but not yet this," etc. The poor Linux users really got short shrift in the Mac/Windows user stampede.

By next year WriteWay may have a Mac version, and the same problems in the forums. It makes sense to me that it would be less confusing all around to split the software sub-forums by platform: Mac, Windows and Linux, so people know where to look. This would also make for shorter threads, so that subjects are easier to find. (Yes, I used the search function, but it brings up everything!)

Opinions? Feasibility? Problems?

Maybe Mac, Windows, mobile, and other/multiplatform? (On the off chance that there's a program that's designed for non-Linux Unix, or that's built in some platform-independent language, or that simply works identically on Mac, Windows, and *nix...)

Yes, definitely, because then it also cuts down on the delay caused by someone asking a question without specifying platform. If they don't check back for a few days, then expect a solution only to find "what platform are you using?" then it just wastes everyone's time.

...or getting a reply given presuming that the platform is Windows. Although people using something else probably remember to mention it, knowing they're in minority...
