I just had a slight suggestion. I think after November, the ability to update our word count should continue, but without the ability to validate the novel, and maybe remove the little bar thing underneath. It would just be nice to show the progress we have continued to make after Novemeber. Anybody else agree?
I think that would be best done with something like a mini cork board/post-it where we could post small notes on our profile pages. Like a shoutbox kind of thing maybe.
That way it wouldn't mess with the deadline (as Bookworm140 mentioned) but it would still be available.
Continue word count possibly?

Re: Continue word count possibly?
Then there wouldn't be the sense of a definite deadline.
"Oh, well, I can still add some more after the deadline and it will look like I made it in a month. I'll take a nap now."
That definite cut-off is a motivator for people.
You can set your own goals and deadlines after November.
Nano is an event that takes place within a certain time period.
If you want to track progress after November, there are spreadsheets available for download in the technology forum.
My two cents.
