For the last two days I've been trying to put in my promo code and every time I get this error message

The following discount code(s) did not apply and must be removed:

E-mailed Createspace, not knowing what else to do. Hopefully they respond and fix this. Five free copies is pretty awesome. Anyone having this issue? If so, how did it get solved? I didn't have this issue last year when I claimed my free copy. So It surprised me.

I'm having the same problem! Did you get an answer? If so, please share with me? Thanks

Saying you are getting the same problem does not actually give anyone trying to help any clue since the OP did not supply any proper details either.

The most common problems with the code can be easily overcome and I'm happy to help try to point you in the right direction but with all the possible problems I need a few details to help me out too.

1 Which code are you using? The one off the NaNo page or the one off the CS page that you get when you follow the instructions on the NaNo page?
2 What point are you trying to put the code in? (Account set up? the check out?)
3 Have you used CS before? If not you will need to BUY a proof copy and then approve it before publishing your work.

Silly question perhaps, but are you using it at the proof copy stage, or have you moved past that, have approved it, and are trying to use the copy for five actual copies of the finished and complete book that's for sale?

Unfortunately, if you're having problems with the promo code as provided by CreateSpace, you'll have to contact them. I know it's a two-step process; the code you receive here is NOT the code you actually use; you follow the instructions on the winner prizes page, and use the password provided to get the actual code.

Anything beyond that, though, you'll have to contact them for. :) They give us the codes, we just distribute them!

My promo code isn't working either. :(I need help. Any suggestions?

Your code off the NaNo site or the code generated on the CS site by inputting the code from the NaNo site?

Are you trying to use it before you have ordered and or approved your proof copy?

You'll have to contact CreateSpace. As Dragonchilde said - we just hand out what they give us.

Bee82, it's the code that createspace gives me to get the discount for my book. I am trying to use it after it has been approved but before I ordered it...

Hmm maybe run the NaNo site code through the CS site again just to check a letter/number wasn't missed if it still doesn't work you will need to contact CreateSpace as Dragonchilde says as CS is responsible for the codes.

Any particular issues you have with the code that CreateSpace issued, you'll need to contact them about. We can't really help with them, because we're not with CreateSpace here. :)

Does anyone know how I can contact them? A phone number or something...? O.o

The red letters in my post are a link to the contact form

Have you tried this link? https://www.createspace.com/Contact.jsp. I can't make it "active," but it's in the Createspace thread in the Sponsor forum, near the bottom of Chris Baty's introduction.

I'm having the same problem, but I saw on a different forum that you have to buy a proof copy first, and then you can use the code when you order the final copies. Totally misleading really, as you still have to pay for something.

This year is less a few give away of millions of dollars of merch but an incentive to consider self publishing. If you are a new customber with CS then yes you do need to buy a proof copy if you have used them before, even if it is just for a free proof in previous years then you can do an online approval if you are confident you have the whole thing formatted properly and don't want an actual check through. 6 books for the price of 1 plus postage is still an amazing deal.

The OP did not supply any details on where she was having her problem. The most common solutions to the problem normally involve a few details as asked by these questions.

I'm happy to try and give pointers but I do need a little hint as to where the problem actually lies.
