[RESOLVED] I receive eMails despite unsubscribing several times

Hi people,

the topic pretty much already sums it up. I receive regular eMails from NaNoWriMo, and even though I unsubscribed multiple times I still receive messages.

Do I really have to spam folder you?

Me too. I've unsubscribed at least 10 times. Which emails? Everyone I get I unsubscribe from. Is there a way to check if this function works? Or is there an admin I can write to directly who can do this task manually?

Which specific emails are you receiving? Knowing which ones you're getting will help us determine why your unsubscribe settings aren't sticking. Before I can report this to the tech team directly, I need as much information as possible. What process are you using to unsubcribe? Are you using an email link, something here in the forums, or your profile settings?

We do have a central location for all subscription settings here: http://www.nanowrimo.org/en/notification_settings. You can access this by going to My NaNoWriMo => Edit Notification Settings - this should allow you to globally unsubscribe from everything, but please provide us with more information about what's not working. SOmething's clearly not functioning properly, and we want to make sure we fix it. :)

My problem is identical. Every time I get an email, I click the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the email, which takes me to an unsubscribe page here on the site. Then I enter my email address and click "unsubscribe," which takes me to another page that tells me I will no longer receive emails. Then I receive emails.

On the emails, it seems that all of them are coming from "HQ" something or other.

Exactly the same problem, and I do exactly what ThatGuyEli describes - click on link on email, type in email, get a page in response that says that I'm unsubscribed... and it's probably happened 10 times. I empty my trash folder regularly so I can't tell you specifically what emails I've unsubscribed from, but I just received one with the subject line "The Future, Guilt Monkeys, and You"

I'm pretty sure I've tracked down and crushed this gremlin. From what I can tell this only affects unsubscribing by clicking the link in an email. However, it won't work until the next time an email recipient clicks the unsubscribe link. Until then, the best thing to do is to disable email notifications at http://www.nanowrimo.org/en/notification_settings
