NaNo Tortoise - Slow and steady wins the race. Clocking in the average 1667 words per day with little extra.
NaNo Hare - Quick bursts of speed win the race. Clocking in well over the average 1667 words per day. There's large spikes on the stat graphs.
NaNo Slug - A slow start allows for a fast-paced finish. Clocking in less than the average 1667 words per day. Has plans to book it near the end or over weekends.
Part 1 - Are you a NaNo Tortoise, Hare, or Slug?
Part 2 - Do you think you'll finish?
Me: NaNo Tortoise. Knowing me, I don't think I'll finish, but I haven't had problems so far.
I hope I am a fast tortoise, but fear that the great start will prove me to be the hare. Lots of distractions coming in the next two weeks - dog training school, a colonoscopy and Thanksgiving! I KNOW I'll finish. I am rule governed.
So far I'm a tortoise and have stayed right with the little line on the graph. I'm pretty sure I'll finish, although I'm afraid something is going to happy to distroy writing rhythm.
Well, I started out the tortoise. Then, I couldn't write for a week, so I became the slug. Then, I wrote 20k in two days, and I became the hare. So, I guess, all three.
I'm a NaNo Hare. I clock in way more than 1,666 per day the first week. Then I start to fade. I've never finished but I've also ended up stopping after 2 or 3 weeks. I'm sure if I keep writing for all 30 days, then I'll have more than 50K words at the end of the month.
I'm a Nano Tortoise!! Although hoping to be a hare at weekends to try and ease the pressure during the week. This is my 1st nano so fingers crossed my plan will work...
This year, apparently, I am a slug. I've written a lousy 1230 words (I know, my ticker says 1680 or something, but so many of those were bad that I went back and rewrote, which is against the law and I shouldn't have done but OH WELL).
But - the story is in my head, dammit. Whenever I stop being a slug and start writing properly, it's going to come falling out of me in a torrent of words and then I'm going to win!
I'm a tortoise, always have been. It works for me and I've won the last four years, so I don't plan to change. I'm afraid if I tried writing 5-10k a day, I'd get burned out on my story waaay too quickly. My writing would devolve into flimsy characterizations, a rushed plot, and a crapload of adjectives. :-/
I'm definitely a slug. I haven't even reached 1,000, though I started today.
I think I will finish though, because I have the ability to write entire essays withing a lunch break and still get a 100, so once I get the beginning over with, I'll be good to go. Though this is my first year. ; u ;
I know I am a NaNo Tortoise, because I am making great progress, but I look like a NaNo Slug right now because my word count is stuck for now. I am trying to flesh out my characters some more before I continue the story, I want to hear them speak to me while I write about them.
I'm definitely a Tortoise; slow and steady wins the race. I want some spurts during the weekend but I do become distracted easily. On Sunday, I intend on going to a write-in so I can be up to speed and be on point with my word count per day. Plus, I'll be less distracted if I don't have WiFi (I think there might be).
This is my fourth NaNo and I'm much more interested in my story this year than I was last year. It's actually a lot of fun. The fact that I'm thinking about my characters and telling others about them, as if they were real people means I'm sure to complete the thing at the end of the month.
Slug. My parents are up next week, will be busy spending time with them, and then I am back to working crazy hours for probably 7 days straight. I really don't know if I will finish.
Tortoise all the way. I might not finish, but I'm happy with the words I am producing (doing the rebel thing - working on an academic book). I will not be done until I finish this manuscript, but I will continue aiming for a daily 2k until I hit 50k. Then I will slow down to 500 words on the academic MS and pick up the novel again.
Hare and as long as I don't catch the stomach flu the rest of my family has I should finsh. If so, well my dad was knocked out for three days, he had to take time off work and he never takes time of work for illness.
Tortoise. I aim for 2,000 words a day so I have 5 days when I don't need to write, and a small buffer. If I do this for thirty days then sure, I'll finish.
Ehh, I suppose I'm a slug? I started out terrible but augmenting every day. I had a hard week because at school I have a bunch of things due. D: I hate when teachers scramble to get marks in during the last possible week before reports. Then us students get stuck with tons of tests and assignments. Anyways, back on topic, I'll say slug. Had I started out like I had planned, I would be more of a turtle though.
Nano Hare here and I've not been having any obstacles so far (knock on wood) but I honestly don't think I'll finish. But I'm hoping to surprise myself =]

Re: Are you the NaNo Tortoise, Hare, or Slug?
I hope I'll be the tortoise; finishing my novel but not trying to rush it like the hare. Although, despite saying that at the moment I'm the slug.

I'm a Tortoise, but I don't know about finishing. I'm right on target so far, but Thanksgiving weekend may be the end of that! lol

Re: Are you the NaNo Tortoise, Hare, or Slug?
I pretty much second this entire post. I'm a tortoise who aspires to be a hare on the weekends, and it's also my first NaNo!

Re: Are you the NaNo Tortoise, Hare, or Slug?
This is my first NaNoWriMo, and I'm definitely a Hare! I'm at 15,000 right now. I might write more later this evening. But for now, it's nap time!

Re: Are you the NaNo Tortoise, Hare, or Slug?
Tortoise!
There's a recommended word count for a reason
Re: Are you the NaNo Tortoise, Hare, or Slug?
I'm definitely a Tortoise. I'm only just keeping up with the word count, but I'm not flying ahead and I'm not falling behind~

Re: Are you the NaNo Tortoise, Hare, or Slug?
Extreme slug here. I'm that one person who always have to write 10000 words on the last two days of November.

I think so.

I am a Tortoise. And bout finishing? Maybe... if the job does NOT eat me alive.

Tortoise, definitely.
And I won't finish. I know it.
