Are you the NaNo Tortoise, Hare, or Slug?

NaNo Tortoise - Slow and steady wins the race. Clocking in the average 1667 words per day with little extra.

NaNo Hare - Quick bursts of speed win the race. Clocking in well over the average 1667 words per day. There's large spikes on the stat graphs.

NaNo Slug - A slow start allows for a fast-paced finish. Clocking in less than the average 1667 words per day. Has plans to book it near the end or over weekends.

Part 1 - Are you a NaNo Tortoise, Hare, or Slug?

Part 2 - Do you think you'll finish?

Me: NaNo Tortoise. Knowing me, I don't think I'll finish, but I haven't had problems so far.

I'm a NaNo Hare. I clock in way more than 1,666 per day the first week. Then I start to fade. I've never finished but I've also ended up stopping after 2 or 3 weeks. I'm sure if I keep writing for all 30 days, then I'll have more than 50K words at the end of the month.

Re: Are you the NaNo Tortoise, Hare, or Slug?

This year, apparently, I am a slug. I've written a lousy 1230 words (I know, my ticker says 1680 or something, but so many of those were bad that I went back and rewrote, which is against the law and I shouldn't have done but OH WELL).

But - the story is in my head, dammit. Whenever I stop being a slug and start writing properly, it's going to come falling out of me in a torrent of words and then I'm going to win!

I'm a tortoise, always have been. It works for me and I've won the last four years, so I don't plan to change. I'm afraid if I tried writing 5-10k a day, I'd get burned out on my story waaay too quickly. My writing would devolve into flimsy characterizations, a rushed plot, and a crapload of adjectives. :-/

I'm definitely a slug. I haven't even reached 1,000, though I started today.

I think I will finish though, because I have the ability to write entire essays withing a lunch break and still get a 100, so once I get the beginning over with, I'll be good to go. Though this is my first year. ; u ;

I'm definitely a Tortoise; slow and steady wins the race. I want some spurts during the weekend but I do become distracted easily. On Sunday, I intend on going to a write-in so I can be up to speed and be on point with my word count per day. Plus, I'll be less distracted if I don't have WiFi (I think there might be).

This is my fourth NaNo and I'm much more interested in my story this year than I was last year. It's actually a lot of fun. The fact that I'm thinking about my characters and telling others about them, as if they were real people means I'm sure to complete the thing at the end of the month.

Tortoise all the way. I might not finish, but I'm happy with the words I am producing (doing the rebel thing - working on an academic book). I will not be done until I finish this manuscript, but I will continue aiming for a daily 2k until I hit 50k. Then I will slow down to 500 words on the academic MS and pick up the novel again.

I started out terrible but augmenting every day. I had a hard week because at school I have a bunch of things due. D: I hate when teachers scramble to get marks in during the last possible week before reports. Then us students get stuck with tons of tests and assignments.
Anyways, back on topic, I'll say slug.

Hare. I'm at 18,640. I find that once I sit down to write, I can't write less than 3,000 words. Each day I tell myself it's okay to take a break, but I can't let myself write down a big fat 0 for a day. So I set down and end up writing myself to exhaustion. I'm definitely feeling the tiredness now. But, yes, I know I can finish! I may not be coherent at all by the end, but it's going to happen.

I'm currently a Hare - I'm trying to get the 50k before the 23rd. I don't know if I'll finish the piece but I know I'll get to the 50k - even if I have to type until my fingertips bleed.

I think I'm currently two days ahead of myself in regards to my word count, which might go up to four days when I clock in tonight. I like being ahead, just in case I have a really bad day, like I did yesterday - I only managed to hit 1000 words yesterday, so I had to do an extra 700 on top of the word count today. (I round the total up to 1700). So I had a minimum of 2400 words to do today and I'm just over 3000 :D

I've managed to write almost exactly 1667 words. I keep trying to end each day as a hare, as the holidays are definitely going to me back, but I haven't managed yet.

In this rate, I don't even even know if I'll reach 10k words. Funny since I type stories and have already done an 6 - 8k chapter in one day. Buut, procrastinating seems like so much fun now. :3

The names NaNo Tortoise, NaNo Hare and NaNo Slug make me giggle - it's adorable. xD

I'm a NaNo Hare this year, but for my first two years doing this, I was a NaNo, um, what's a NaNo animal that fails entirely. :|

Re: Are you the NaNo Tortoise, Hare, or Slug?

I'm a slug, but only because of all the changes I've been making! I started off NaNo with a plot I'd been developing for a while. I got to about 6,000 words and then just got really tired of the story I was writing. It wasn't going anywhere and it wasn't fun anymore. So I started over. I'm planning on writing 2,500 words a day, but it's coming so much more easily than my other plot did. So I still think I might hit that 50,000 mark if I give it my all and stick to my daily goal!

Mixture of Hare/Tortoise, depending on the day. Maybe a slight bit of slug as well. My daily word count is fairly varied, so I don't really fit well into any of those groups.

Bits of each, really - I spent the first week writing around about the daily wordcount, apart from the weekend when I put in a good four - thousand words on the friday because I was warring with my friend.
Then, I had no choice but to stop writing for this past week (until friday, at least), after which I fell behind about five - thousand words, and spent the majority of my writing time faffing around online.
Did have several sprints, though, which resulted in another three - thousand yesterday o3o

I started as a tortoise, plugging in my 1667 a day with a few extra. Feeling smug. Then I turned into a slug! Now I'm intimidated by my word count deficit and each time I sit at the computer it feels like a slog. :) Maybe I'll turn into a hare this week to make up for it ...

I'm definitely a hare, but I was kind of forced into it this go 'round. I had too much to do in late-November to even think of taking it slow and steady.

I finished, but I'm not really happy with my performance. I couldn't enjoy the experience because I was too busy trying to finish in time to write 3 papers. I plan on making up for this in December by aiming for 50K again, but this time I'm taking it as slow as I can. We'll see how it goes...and how long it lasts.

Just kidding.
Steady hare/tortoise hybrid. On days I didn't have to go to classes after work I could write approx. the same amount of words per day, only sometimes having some spikes in my stats.
