I can type faster than I can write long hand and since I'm left-handed, writing long hand has other challenges, the least of which is I DESPISE having pencil rubbings on the edge of my hand from rubbing my hand along what I've just written. Plus, most spiral-bound books are not made for lefties.
I use yWriter by Spacejock Software for my first drafts and MS Word for revisions & editing ('cause you can track changes).
it has to be typed eventually to be checked by NaNoWriMo, but I hand write when I cannot get to a computer (as I share a computer with my boyfriend) so I do both handwrite and type. There are days I type twice as much, but I will do anything to get 50,000 by November 30th. I also used word since I took college classes on it; I know it well.
It sounds very old fashion but I prefer long hand. I think better that way. It is more portable. I'm less tempted to go back and rewrite, edit, police. All things they tell us not to do during the first draft.
Depends. I usually type my stories (spellcheck is my savior), but I don't mind writing out on good, old fashion paper. But I afterwards I type it up :P
I typically type when I know what I want to say because typing is the only way I can keep up with my thoughts, but my inspiration comes from writing with an ultra fine point pen and college ruled or any narrow lined paper. The more I am able to write on one page the better!
Type hands down! I guess that its because I type faster than I write. It took me half an hour or a bit more to hand write 500 words but it only takes me like fifteen to twenty minutes typed.
1-Do you prefer to type your novel (using whatever word processor)
*I do write with Word to write my entire novel because the publishers dont accept hand writing work plus its easier to correct and all ..
2-do you prefer to write long hand?
*And I do hand writing as well in a note-book for my start before to go on Word, just to make things in place (ie: plot development in 4 sections ) a drawing all about my characters it helps me, I guess its not the same for everyone
I like writing long hand. I don't really know why. I love writing with different colored pens and I love the crinkly sound the page makes when you've written on both sides of it.
I much prefer to write longhand. It's much easier for me to think while writing by hand, I suppose; and, of course, there's no distracting internet. It's actually very difficult me to just type my novel, which makes NaNoWriMo rather annoying at times. Several times I've just written in a notebook at school and the typed it up in my word document.
I prefer typing. I often write longhand for my notes, but when it comes to actually getting the story down it goes along much better if I type. Also, my handwriting is pretty horrible so it wouldn't be much fun to read afterwards.
I enjoy writing longhand when I need to get a rough idea down, but when it comes to the actual novel I use word processor. I tend to write slower than I type, and when I type, I feel like my thought process flows much easier.
I take my notes by hand in a notebook that's designated to the story, but do all my writing with a word processor. My hands just get too tired and I get frustrated when my story isn't coming out fast enough and causing me pain, so longhand is kind of out for me.
I write down random notes and things longhand, but I type any actual writing because writing longhand for a long time hurts my wrist. To say nothing of my atrocious handwriting, lol.
Before my first Nano, I always wrote long hand then typed it out. For my first Nano, I typed it straight into the computer... and ever since, that's how I write. It's easier to get it all out and I don't feel tempted to go back. When I write in a notebook, I type it up every few pages... and edit, and change and get all worked up. Thus, I never finished a novel before Nano. So now I type it and don't look back over what I've done until I write the last line.
Type, type, typey, type, type. Works better for me for some reason. Maybe because it's faster. For some reason when I was writing by hand all of my work sucked.
I cherish my touch typing and I love my laptop, no matter how distracting it can be. Plus I have the tendency to write too hard or too messily so my hand gets cramped up and I get frustrated and then I go onto my laptop and everything's better. xD
I type when I'm writing, but I prefer writing longhand to plot and come up with characters. Something about doodling in the margins does it for me. (I'll also write longhand to break blocks sometimes.)
I write most of my notes and pieces away from home longhand, but I type my novel at home because writing hurts after a while and it's easier to modify as I go.
What do you prefer to write with?
Do you prefer to type your novel (using whatever word processor)
or
do you prefer to write long hand?
Why?

I'm a typer.

Re: What do you prefer to write with?
Word processor. You can go faster and type whatever comes to mind. When I write long hand, I tend to get ahead of where I'm at on paper.

Re: What do you prefer to write with?
I write longhand also. This year my novel is 100% written with old fashioned pen and ink in a composition notebook that I decorated.
Almost done! woo hoo!
Re: What do you prefer to write with?
I'm definitely a typer. I can type much faster than I can write. Plus it's more comfortable. Not to mention, I'll actually be able to read it later.
Re: What do you prefer to write with?
Yeah, I type faster than I write too. Also, editing is one hell of a lot easier on the computer! :P

I don't mind writing long hand, but I would definitely pick typing over it if I want to get things done.
Re: What do you prefer to write with?
I prefer to write long hand.
I'm not the fastest typer and it's easier for me to lug a notebook around than a laptop. (Plus, it's less likely to be stolen if left unattended.)

Re: What do you prefer to write with?
Typer. But lately I found out that when I was in slump, writing by hand could at least ease it a bit.
But for NaNo, definitely typing.
Re: What do you prefer to write with?
Hand writer. Typing's for editing... and people that can type fast.

Re: What do you prefer to write with?
Typer. Because there are times when I can only barely read my own handwriting.

Re: What do you prefer to write with?
I like to type because I'm slow at hand writing. And the computer will automatically count my words. :D
