C. Writer. I'm not sure I'm exclusively gonna write written novels, I'm not getting paid and I don't care enough to come up with some other term. Writer is the most true at the moment.
Right now I call myself a writer, but if I were to get published then I'd like to be called an author. If I get published, then I don't really care if people call me a writer or a novelist or a publisher; just for the moment I don't consider myself an author and when people call me that then I am flattered. :)
I only call myself a writer since I feel author would be more deserving of someone who has published works and I've just rarely heard the term novelist used.
Writer. I have nothing at all against the other terms, but I've just always referred to myself and been referred to by other people as a writer. I like it. It's very simple and to the point.
Which do you prefer to be called?
Which would you rather be known as? A(n)...
A. Novelist
B. Author
C. Writer
D. other
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
A, B, or C, but I feel that I should have something published before I can truly call myself A or B.
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
I agree
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
Ditto.
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
Writer sounds romantic (like a struggling artist). Novelist sounds lovely and old fashioned, author sounds like toilet paper....I guess....a writer :)
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
D - Other. I am definately an other. I introduce myself as a wordsmith.
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
would you mind if I used that too?
wordsmith, I like it.
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
B or C
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
B. Author
Because I write more than just novels. And author has more of an official ring to it. In my English class I am a writer. In the arts I am an author.
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
True true
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
B. Author
C. Writer
D. Rich
;)
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
A or B.
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
B and C.

Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
Writer, but that's because I write fiction, poetry, scripts, and dabble some in journalism.
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
Writer, because I'll call myself a novelist or author when I get published! (...if I ever do..)
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
I call myself a writer, because I dabble in other things too.

C. If I ever get published, then I'll be a novelist.
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
Writer. Hands down. Author or Novelist makes me sound too proper, but anyone can be called a writer. You know, if they can actually write.
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
Writer
Novelist/Author makes me think of someone who has traditionally or self-published an actual book or something.
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
C, both A and B feel like someone who only writes books (which is not me).
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
a or b
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
"C) Writer" -- I'm a writer now and always have been/will be, but I guess if/when I get published I'd consider calling myself an "B) Author".
Re: Which do you prefer to be called?
D: Storysmith. It's general enough so I don't feel bound to the written word, it's a lot more personal, and it just oozes grandeur.
