Hey guys, you have just died and then you wake up in the afterlife. A hard survival-of-the-fittest sort of world, nothing you expected. You realized you were going to die a couple of seconds before hand, but death was inevitable. Now what would you feel?

Like stringing together a bunch of expletives. XD
Well, actually, it'd depend on how I died. What kind of body/form do I have/am I taking? Considering that I don't believe in an afterlife, I'd be really suspicious. I'm the type of person who'd rather let nature take its course (I don't believe in most forms of medical intervention) and I would honestly feel like I was cheated out of a normal life-death cycle.
How your characters react probably depends on what kind of belief system they're working with, and how they died...
Well my MC died when she was a teenager, but she knew she was going to die a couple of minutes beforehand. She was killed by someone in the afterlife, so she knows there is one. But she's usually pretty sudued, so i don't think she'd go totally off the handle and start screaming.
Welcome to the Afterlife

Re: Welcome to the Afterlife
I'll go with inthemargins' expletives. Isn't that kind of what this life is, in a more technologically advanced way?
I'd have some questions for whoever turned out to be in charge. And I'd try to learn as much as I could as quickly as I could so that I could survive.

Well I wouldn't be screaming. I'd be saying the bad words quietly to myself.
Re: Welcome to the Afterlife
I myself would... be confused and look around and try to figure how things work.
Re: Welcome to the Afterlife
I would be freaked out, take deep breaths and try and come to grips with the situation. This situation being:
1) I'm not actually dead. I still exist, I just can't react with the world I previously lived in the same way.
2) I could obviously interact to some extent, since somebody in the afterlife killed me.
3) There are other people here, so there's no worry about being alone
and finally, most importantly in my view,
4) Eventually all of my loved ones will die anyway so it's not like we'll never meet again.
