Last November I was just way too busy with all kinds of things, which didn't leave much time for my NaNo project. Sadly, I'm pretty much always way too busy in November. Since June and August also aren't really months where I have time to spare, I decided I would just pick out another month to write a novel. So, I chose March.
I think one of the great points of NaNo is that it gives us a community, a group of people who encourage eachother and share the experience. Therefore, I am looking for other who would like to join me in writing a 50,000 word novel during March. You can find me both her and on twitter, also under this name. I hope to see some of you in the #MarNoWriMo chat on twitter.
I am definitely interested! It'd be nice to use the rest of February for planning and go for the 50000 in March! Feel free to PM me if you're interested... I'm not on twitter, but definitely check my emails here :)
I'm in as well! I missed nano last year (only just heard of it, can you believe it?!) so I'll join you! Feel free to pm me if you're interested in keeping contact via email.
This sounds interesting. I just signed up like an hour ago and I was already feeling anxious with the thought of just how many months I would have to wait before I started writing. This march thing sounds neat and I am tempted to join even though march can sometimes be a busy month for me, but truthfully, there isn't a month where busyness doesn't exist in my life so I'll just have to press through it. You can find me @4ocj on twitter.
Hello and welcome to all newcomers ^^ Since not all of you are on twitter, I'll try to also be on this forum from time to time to chat and stuff.
So, March is less than a week away. Do you all have an idea what you're going to write next month or will you just see where March takes you? I'm currently doubting between two idea's. One is a girl who finds out she is a dhampir and meets her vampire part of the family because another vampire wants to kill her. It's set in a sort of fantasy counterpart of the Middle Ages. The other one is set in modern day and tells the story of a dhampir girl who is (acts as) a normal teenager by day, but is a hunter of the supernatural by night. Because of a new kid at school her two worlds are in danger of colliding. I like the idea of both stories, so I'm having trouble deciding. I hope to have picked one before March :P
Nerine Luna Cyran...Personally I like your first idea better but that's just me. I just so happen to have an obsession with that era [Can't write anything plain modern without getting bored and writing ''And then they meet a dragon'' or ''That was when she realized that the crown fit her perfectly, she was the long lost princess of....'''. Yeah that happens a lot]
But anyways I will also be joining you all, my user on Twitter is the same as on here. Can't wait to get started! My novel is a squeal to what I wrote in November. Basically it continues on with my original story:
Seskana was the Halfling crowned princess of Elfina, constantly tormented by her people. She tended to stay into the shadows, with only her few friends for company. But that was before, a nameless criminal set out on a devious mission to capture her and her people. Can Seskana forget her past in order to save what was left of their future?
Would you read that? Just curious, I'm taking my chance with Pitchapoolza this year..But anyways heading over to Twitter now.
I just started a novel, so I'll use MarNoWriMo to get going on it (because I am so bored). But what if I don't have a Twitter? D: I mean, I'll see what I can do, but...

That's exactly where I am! I was all of two chapters into my story, and it was going so slowly I was ready to quit. I remembered how awesome Nano was a couple years ago (did it in June that time...November is kind of a terrible month for this, isn't it?) and decided March would be the one this year. How wonderful this forum already existed!
Ooooh, March wrimo! I'm in! Well, I have a Twitter, but I never use it.
If any of you are interested, there are actually two forums that focus on March novel writing.
There's http://marchnowrimo.proboards.com - MarchNoWriMo. It's pretty quiet, but there are a couple of us there.
There's also http://marnowrimo.webs.com - MarNoWriMo, but that one looks pretty much dead.
I've been hanging around on the proboards one. I'll keep checking back on this thread, so those of us who are "not" on Twitter can hang out, but I'll be on the forum also.
@thomlina The pitch is at least interesting enough for me to start looking at your first chapter. Maybe explain why her people tormented her, and why she cares if a criminal wants to capture her people. (And how you can capture the people from an entire nation ;))
@lionhuntermo If you don't have a twitter account, that's fine as well. Most of us will probably hang around here as well. To post wordcounts for example, or just procrastinate xD
@Agent007 I also looked around for a MarNoWriMo forum, but everything seemed kind of death. I think I'll just stick to this forum and twitter this year.
Ooooooooh! Is it alright if I've started? Just today actually, but, I tend to do things if I have a dead line. That's why I need recitals for my music, dew dates for my school and duh! The total insanity of having to have it on paper for my drawings! ;P
I don't. Well, I have a Twitter, I just never use it. =P Those of us who don't will just be hanging around on this thread. I'll be around on all the MarchNo threads on NaNo, and on the proboards forum.
I'm doing The Haunting of Höllebergen, which is gothic Nazi steampunk vampire time travel gaslamp fantasy romance. It's about a rich young aristocrat who's the heir of a very old vampire family, and a girl with an eidetic memory, from an old family of vampire hunters, who probably grew up in a concentration camp. MMC finds FMC drowning in the ocean, saves her, and realizes that she's lost her memory. Throw in romance subplot there. Add in not exactly evil but more misguided scientific society who's messing about with time travel, and trying to mess with history, and only making things worse. Hatred between the hunters and the vampires flares up again. Somehow the girl, who knows basically everything there is to know about vampires, is the key, but I don't know how yet. I still have to figure out how that is possible when she's LOST her MEMORY.
I pretty much have the first sentence, but other than that it looks like I'll be pantser-ing this one. I also just started doing a morning workout routine, so I'm going to try to go to bed earlier, wake up earlier, and get in an hour or two of writing time every morning right after I work out... hopefully then my mind will be cleared up and ready to go!
Writing in the morning: nearly impossible for me! =P
I pantsed The Haunting of Höllebergen in February, and I have now determined a couple of my major milestones, and I know that two timelines exist. They're all empty boxes, so to speak, though. I'm a confirmed pantser, but it doesn't really help me nail down a cohesive plot, as such, nor does it help me fill in the 'boxes.'. :-) I really work best with a structured outline, so I can check things off, but...turns out I SUCK at plotting! XD I'm going to try PlotMo in March alongside MarNoWriMo, using Snowflake. No way I'm paying $100 for the software. Gonna try making my own template in Scrivener, because I use that already. :-)
March: Can it really be possible to transform a pantser into a plotter? The world may never know. XD
I said this last year for the MayNo, but I'm going to use March to finish a novel that I've been working on since my senior year of high school. And it's the same novel, too, which makes it somewhat sadder.
It's basically your typical teenage romance. Girl likes boy, boy likes girl. They never talk to each other. Girl moves halfway across the country. Boy and girl end up talking to each other. Boy's family goes to visit girl's family a few years later. They don't talk about the very obvious mutual attraction, believing wholeheartedly that the other only sees them as a friend. Other heavy topics such as eating disorders, abuse, and depression are also dealt with in the novel.
I think I'll stick with this forum for any procrastination. And Tumblr, of course. :)
Oooh, I'm definitely in! I've recently started on a new novelthing, tentatively titled The Bancroft Chronicles (Or: How I Learnt To Stop Worrying And Love My Boss).
It's kind of weird and plotless right now, I'm just doing a bunch of slice-of-life style bits, but eventually my two MCs may fall in love. (Lesbians, yay!) IDK what's happening, but it's gonna be good.
