Did it. Exactly the 50k. Story line complete, some gaps to be in-filled, some rewriting and editing but delighted with what I've written. Dragons of Excalibur: Growing the Lore just might make it to publication!!!!
I passed 50k on the last day, a few hours before the deadline, after being sick for a few days and not writing at all. It's very odd to realise that the largest story I've ever written isn't even done yet, there's still a ton more story to punch out.
My story is done and it's not as terrible as I thought it would be :). I'm still in shock that I actually made it to the 50K.
I let it sit for a couple of days, but I couldn't wait to start editing. I don't know what I'll do with it, but I would like to take the project to a completed state, just for my own satisfaction.
I am not a writer by profession. The only things I've published are technical papers. It surprised me how much I enjoyed the writing and how attached I became to my story and the characters. This has been a wonderful experience. I'm grateful to the nanowrimo folks for doing the event and all the participants on the forums. I didn't post much, but I read a lot and was inspired. :)
I still need some tweaks. I finished with a few days to spare, I did some editing last night. I had to rearrange chapters, because I wrote them when I got the idea for them. I cleaned up the typos, and for the characters that only had placeholder names, I gave them permanent names. I numbered all the chapters. I want to give each chapter a title too - in Don Quixote the chapters all have wordy titles, so I want to do that with my book.
But right now, I have my book loaded up on my Kindle, and I'm reading it. I find it easier to spot flaws when I read it that way as opposed to reading in an editor. I'll take notes and make another edit, and then it will be good enough to let a couple people read it. I may need to expand in places, and perhaps contract in places, but I'd have to say Don Quixote on Mars isn't looking too bad.
I finished on 11/28, even though I was behind the whole month. Let me tell you how good that made me feel... "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" Yeah. That's me. ^^ right there. It was awesome.
Who's done?
So whose finally got to the glorious 50,000 words? :D
Re: Who's done?
Yep! done on the 28th, more or less.
Re: Who's done?
I'm finished with 50,000, but I have yet to finish my novel.
Re: Who's done?
Done and done with first draft story. It's a YA sci fi satire, so I was expecting it to be short. Perfect for NaNo!
I've posted the first 10 pages on my novel info page:

Anyone else posting samples of their work? Send links!
Congrats all!
Re: Who's done?
Danika, love it! Thanks for sharing. :)
Re: Who's done?
Thanks, astrocarie! it was really fun to write.
Re: Who's done?
I got to 50K on Nov. 14. The novel needed more, though, so I've finished it at 85K, but I hurried through the last two chapters.

Re: Who's done?
I have my story more or less told, but it didn't quite make it to 50,000 words.

Re: Who's done?
Hit 50k at 10:01 PM EST on the 30th. I did 15 thousand words in 18 hours. I was jazzed as heck to have pulled it off. :D
Re: Who's done?
I finished mine just minutes before the deadline it was brutal :s But I was so relieved when I finally did, though now it's time for editing......
