I've got four essays finished for my collection, and they've been getting longer (the third was about 1,200 words, the fourth close to a thousand). The day's only half done and I've got the event in Palo Alto ahead. I enjoy writing this much- it's like all the things I've thought about blogging for the past year is just getting cataloged.
Bit peeved, as I think my style and grammatical structure leaves something to be desire- it's a bit dull. But in time that will likely remedy itself.

I'd intended to write about a paragraph at midnight and go to sleep... then ended up writing over 1K :) Then I was up early this morning and wrote a lot more before work.
Sadly the rest of day 1 will be dedicated to writing application essays. Good luck everyone!
I got my first chapter done, which equates to 1,715 words in approximately 7 pages (as formatted by Storyist).
I actually was planning for my novel to have a humorous tone to it and, at least so far, it hasn't really developed. But that's okay. Whatever happens organically is where it will go.
I'm excited to get some more writing in at the Palo Alto meetup later.
I'm avoiding an extra credit essay at the moment, but I have made it to 610 words. I hope to get to 1000 before my 3 pm lab today. So far, so good. Can't complain about progress, even if it is small :)
I stayed up last night to get a word in at midnight (well 233 words) and am now set to go to meet a daily goal of about 2000 words since it's proving to be an event filled November for me to work around.
Got a few words in after midnight early this morning, and already stuff is blowing up! I am way too satisfied with myself for setting Max's iPod on fire.
Alrighty, I'm at 4,281 for my first day! On track to beat last year's record of finishing on November 14th; we shall see...
I was running the official word sprint twitter feed (@NaNoWordSprints) tonight and it was a BLAST, and I got a lot of work done. I definitely recommend it for those of you who tweet.
Have a horror story about your story? Need a place to flail? How is the first day going?
Me? Oh, I'm sick and nursing the cold of dooooom. Cold Medicine Novels tend to end up rather wacky, so I'm looking forward to some good times. :)

I did the Daytime Write In at 4161 Alma all by myself, but got 1,684 words down! Woot!

5,827 words going into the Palo Alto meetup. Hitting my ceiling soon as I need to let my wrist rest and get some sleep. Hopefully 7,000 for the day.
