Well folks, we can hardly believe it, but November has come and gone. What exactly does that mean? It means by now you should be very overly caffeinated, full of turkey, and if you're like us, very very tired of that one character that just won't seem to go away no matter how hard you try. It also means it's time to celebrate the passing of another year of NaNo. So why not celebrate with your fellow writers? That's right, it's the DC Region Thank God It's Over Party (TGIO)!!!
To finish November off in style, we're hosting a TGIO Party for the DC Region. Here's the details:
WHEN: Saturday December 1, 2012 starting at 2:30 pm (ending...whenever, hehe, probably 5ish)
WHERE: Epicurean & Company, 4250 Connecticut Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20008 (we've got our fingers crossed we won't have to move it at the last minute like we did the kickoff party, eek!)
HOW TO GET THERE: It's easiest to metro to Epicurean. Epicurean is right at the top of the Van Ness-UDC Metro stop on the Red Line (word of warning, they've been doing a lot of weekend work on the Red line lately, single tracking, etc., check WMATA's website to see what kind of delays there might be and plan accordingly). If you drive, there is parking in the surrounding neighborhoods and around UDC. It is metered parking so bring some change for the meter, or your smartphone for Parkmobile, but I am unsure how many spots will be available.
WHAT TO BRING: Basically, yourself. If you want to bring a few pages of the novel you worked on this month to share with others, please feel free. Other than that, some money if you want to eat or drink there. Epicurean has a ton of options for food, hot bar, salad bar, sushi bar, full service bar (if you want to partake in some adult beverages).
We hope you can make it. It's always a good time and it's a great chance to hang out and tell war stories of how your November went with some really cool and fun people. We usually keep it pretty low key and relaxed.
One question I usually hear every year about the TGIO Party is this, "What if I didn't finish or win this year, can I still come to the TGIO Party?" The answer is ABSOLUTELY! Whether your wrote 100,000 words or 10 words, it does not matter. If you participated in NaNo this year you are welcome to come and we'd love to see you.
If you plan on attending, please do one of the following so we can get a rough head count: respond on this forum, send either Kay or myself a message here on the website, email us, or hit us up on twitter (see Twitter forum post).
We look forward to seeing everybody there!!!
Your friendly neighborhood Municipal Liaisons (MLs), Kay and Chuck
Noooo! I can't make it. :( That's during the run of the play I'm acting in. Shows at 3 and 7 with an hour-before call-time and 1.5 hours of run-time--so, basically, 2 to 9. Alas. But I will be thinking of you all! And, next year, it will be all about NaNo, and I will be there. I have spoken. After a written fashion.
I'm gonna try my best to be there -- couldn't make it to any write-ins, and I'm new to DC so I don't know anyone yet, but still! I won, and damn it, I want to celebrate! Anyone coming from College Park?

Thanks! I plan on coming.

I'll be wearing a bag of wordcount shame on my head, but I'll be there.

I would love to be there, but it's my mother-in-law's birthday party. You can't mess with the mother-in-law! Maybe next year...

i think i'll still be in WV :( But congrats to all of my fellow winners!
Hoping to go!
Yep! Jonathan and I are planning to come.
