This is the place where we're going to try to organize events and activities and groups after November. If you're interested in forming critique groups, writing groups, getting together to socialize once in a while, if you'd like me to do a dramatic reading of your novel, chime in here and we'll see what we can put together. Also, I've created a google group list so that we can keep in touch and have a place to announce get togethers via email. Just go to http://groups.google.com/group/chiwrimo?hl=en&pli=1 and apply for membership or send me a NaNo mail and I'll invite you to the group.

A bunch of us have talked about this! While I would sort of love to find a critique group, I can't in good conscience ask anyone to read my terrible writing ;) But some kind of semiregular get-together would be awesome.

[/quote] We are definitely going to put some together some write-ins and groups. We might not do anything until January, given the crazy of the holidays, but do join the list! As for the critique group - I think you have to remember, if you're serious about feeling a little awkward about joining a critique group - that you learn a lot by reading other people's work, good AND bad and at all different levels, so when you participate, other people are learning from analyzing your writing, no matter what the level. Additionally, you're making a commitment to read their writing as well, so there's definitely a quid pro quo so that no one should feel that they are imposing on other people when they submit for critique. I'm hoping that we get enough interest in critique groups that we can match groups up to different experience levels, so that authors who feel they're still feeling out the whole critique process can be with others at a similar level, and those looking for a more intense critique experience can find authors willing to participate in that.

My writing is pretty terrible, too. Don't feel bad waffles :) I like the idea of different critique levels.
