Hello! Any of you high school writers from last year might remember me and Viper as heading up high school write-ins at the Des Plaines Public Library after school on Fridays. Currently, Viper is in college, so I'm left here as the senior from Maine South (Park Ridge) leading this up. I was wondering if anyone from the Park Ridge, Des Plaines, Niles area would be interested in having write-ins. The last few years I've been doing this have been rather popular. Possible meeting places are Des Plaines Public Library (preferable), Park Ridge Public Library, or any other location, such as cafes, etc. So, if you're interested, just reply here with what school you're from and what times/places would be best for you. If transportation is an issue, we usually have several people from each of the surrounding schools, so car-pooling may be an option. -nutmeg
p.s.--> I prefer Fridays after school at the Des Plaines Library.
I'm up for trying to find everyone again. :P Maybe I won't fail this year? *crosses fingers* Saturdays work best for me. Friday might be able to work, but I'll have to acquire a ride from someone, if that's okay.
Hey guys! I don't know if you remember me from last year, but I'm Caitlin, one of the writers from Maine West who came to the write-ins at the DPPL last year. :) I would definitely be up for some more write-ins. Friday after school would be preferable for me as well, but I'm open to Saturday mornings too- it'll just be hard for me to get up, haha!
I'm so glad we're going to try to do this again! The write-ins were incredibly helpful last year, so hopefully we'll be able to make this work! :)
I'm up for write-ins. Any library would be fine, I'm within distance of them. I'm Nik, from South. Keep me in tune with the times and dates and places and junk. I know a few people who are doing NaNo this year, so I'll poke them.
Hi, everyone! I teach at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines and we're looking to add more Write-Ins to our schedule. Everyone is welcome, and we'd love to have you join us!
If you're interested, I made a survey to see which times work best for everyone. Go ahead and take it and hopefully I'll see at Oakton:
Hi guys. While I am in college, I might be in town during Thanksgiving break for a couple write-ins. I'll keep an eye on this thread. Looking forward to seeing you all again!
Hi, everyone. I work at the Des Plaines Public Library and I'm signed up for NaNoWriMo for the first time. I wanted to invite you to drop by the Teen Lounge on Tuesday the 8th and the 29th to check in and see how your writing is going. Hope to see you there.
Okay, as the writing buddies section of the site isn't working yet, I hope you are checking this. Here are some tentative times of meeting. Please let me know if you are interested in attending any. It's much more fun if people actually show up at a write-in!
TENTATIVE TIMES: Friday, Nov. 4, 3:40ish-? Friday, Nov 11, All day off school. Decide on time... Friday, Nov 18, 3:40ish-? Thanksgiving break--> as wanted/needed
Last year, we generally met every Friday after school and sometime during Thanksgiving break. The first person usually arrived around 3:40ish and we went until 5:00-5:30 depending on interest. Really, there was no set end time.
All meetings are at the Des Plaines Public Library in the Teen Lounge on the third floor. Either we stay there or we head over to the reading room, whatever our mood.
Transportation a problem? We'll try to work that out.
So please, reply and express interest or disinterest.
As of now, we have four people attending the fourth for sure, which is good for the first time. This would be: Crazyontheinside_Mimi, kitty-catline, another girl from Maine South, and myself. I eagerly await this Friday, Erin (nutmeg)
I'm totally coming tonight and next week Friday. I'm home until the 13th from college for term end and can't wait to write with everyone again today! I have two other people who may show up so fingers crossed :)
So, just to let everyone know, we had talked about an impromptu get together after school on Monday. Feel free to go, although I will not be able to attend. I will, however, be able to be there on Friday, probably from the afternoon onward, since I have off school. Good luck, everyone!
I don't know if I'll be able to make today's meeting, but what's happening tomorrow? Brodieaustin mentioned meeting up and I would love to, but I need to know what time.
I have work right after school on Tuesday, so count me out. Wednesday might be a good time, if we meet before Friday. And my right pinky fingrer is still spasming from writing so much yesterday.
Count me out too for today. :( I have a Stats project that I've been putting off in favor of writing, and.... it's due tomorrow. So I can't really do that today, haha.
Tuesday I'd probably (?) be able to do it, but I wouldn't be able to get there until about a quarter after four again.
Hey there. I live in what's called the "Island in the City", which is Norridge. Transportation is not a problem for me, and I'd love to go to any write-ins in Des Plaines. I'm pretty sure I'd be able to make it on November 18th, and any time during Thanksgiving break. :) Can't wait.
I'll be there. I probably won't be able to get there until 3ish because my ride is my mom, and she works in the morning. Ill ask her and get back tonight.

Saturdays would be okay as long as they're mornings. On Friday's I can definately give a ride.

Yep, I remember you. I'm Erin, if you remember that name.
Anyways, I'm rounding up people at South, so I should have more information soon.
Re: High School Writers (Northwest Suburbs)
Sounds excellent! Just let me know whenever we have something concrete worked out. In the meantime, I'll try to gather some people from West. :)

Re: High School Writers (Northwest Suburbs)
Yay! How is college going? And what's up with the icon?
Re: High School Writers (Northwest Suburbs)
Pretty sweet. Pretty busy too. No idea how I'll pull off nano this year. Late nights and caffeine :)
Also, I don't have a small picture of myself XD
Re: High School Writers (Northwest Suburbs)
Caffeine does wonders!

Re: TENTATIVE DATES/TIMES
All of those times sound great. The only day I wouldn't be able to make it is the 11th, as I'm visiting a college that day.
Also, just to let you know, my friend Jessica might be stopping in from college to join us on one of those days. :)
Re: TENTATIVE DATES/TIMES
That sounds wonderful; we always love more people to pass the craziness on to!

This would be at the DPPL?
I should be able to show up. I might be a tad late, though. There's a V-show meeting after school.

Re: High School Writers (Northwest Suburbs)
If we could get together after school on Wed., that would work. Of course, I'll be there Friday.
Re: High School Writers (Northwest Suburbs)
I think Wednesday would work for me. :) Anyone else?
Re: High School Writers (Northwest Suburbs)
Wenesday instead of tomorrow? Sounds good.
Re: High School Writers (Northwest Suburbs)

Re: High School Writers (Northwest Suburbs)
I'll be visiting Knox College tomorrow, so I won't be able to make it. :( I'm so sad... I won't be able to see you guys till next week! D:
