This thread is all about our plans for the KO Party and the write-ins. I'm going to talk about Shreveport events, while Bobbie will later talk about Bossier events. It doesn't matter where you live! If you can make it to an event, please come write with us, whether it's in Shreveport or Bossier! We just want to make things as convenient as possible for you.
Dates and times for *official* events are set, due to Bobbie's and my work schedules, and you will be able to find them on the region's calendar on the region homepage. However, please feel free to put together your own unofficial write-ins if you can't make the official ones! In-person write-ins are a valuable resource for Wrimos, so don't let our schedules limit what you can get out of NaNo. Unofficial events are welcome, and if you let one of us know ahead of time, we can list it on the calendar for you.
The Shreveport KO Party will be November 1st, at the Cupcake Gallery on Youree Drive. The owner/manager of the Cupcake Gallery has agree to be the official home of our write-ins for 2012! Because I work until 4pm that day, the KO Party will begin at 5pm, and go until the Cupcake Gallery closes at 8pm. Bobbie will have her own Bossier side KO Party that will begin later, which she will tell you more about. (And feel free to come to the Shreveport party, and then move on to the Bossier party if you still feel like writing!)
Shreveport official write-ins will be either Mondays or Tuesdays, as those are my days off. (So this is your chance to chime in before I settle on a day, let me know what's best for you. I can't please everybody, but I'll do my best to please as many people as possible.) What I'll likely do for these official write-ins is have a set 3-hour period that is the "official" time for the write-in, but I'll be there well before that time frame starts and, depending on the time frame, be there after it ends as well, for people who want to come back can't be there during the "official" time. So really, it'll be like an all day write-in!
Bobbie's Bossier write-ins will be on weekends, and again, she'll go into detail on those later.
We think this will work out, because it means there will be two official write-ins a week, one on a week day, and one on a weekend day. Hopefully, this will mean the maximum number of people being able to attend at least one of the official write-ins. Again, don't feel bad if you can't, and do feel free to organize your own unofficial event if you need to!
Welcome to the Shreveport/Bossier region, and NaNoWriMo 2012!
Well, my schedule has changed, and is the opposite of what it was last year. So Mondays and Tuesdays are not good for me anymore. I should be able to make the kickoff, if a Rebel is welcome, of course! But it looks like if I attend any of the write-ins this year it will likely be the Bossier ones.
Bossier Write-Ins will be at the Books-A-Million on Airline. They will either be on Fridays or Saturdays. I prefer Fridays, because I always have this day off, so I will be able to sit in all day whenever we have a Write-In. Or Saturdays, but I do work part of the day on Saturdays every other week, so Fridays are still preferable.
As far as the KO party, Books-A-Million is open until 10 PM on weekdays. And I work from 2pm to 8-ish pm. So, if you're up for that, I can do that! :D But if you'd rather wait until Friday November 3rd, it's open until 11pm on Fridays, and I'm free the whole day that day.
I'm in Ruston and would love to host an non-official write in over here if there is any interest. Let me know! I am brand new at this, but it seems that what we need is a place to plug in and focus. . . anything else?
I'm so excited, I'm sick of saying it! But I really am excited!
Anyone interested in a pre-nano prep meet? We could interview each other's characters or work on character questionnaires. I wish I was more talented as a sketch artist because one of my characters keeps a sketch diary. I'd like to draw some of the things that she would. ...need to take a drawing class...

Rebels are totally welcome! :D And I'll miss seeing you, but that's what the Bossier write-ins are for. :)
Bossier stuff!

I am so excited that there's a group in S-BC! The last time I participated there wasn't one! I'm excited to meet everyone!
We're glad, too! Welcome!
We're excited about the new region, too! ^^ Can't wait to see everyone!
Count me in for the Shreveport KO. Or at least an hour or so of it ;-)
Yay! (Also, I am a dork. I was totally looking for the "like" button.)
I'm in Ruston and would love to host an non-official write in over here if there is any interest. Let me know! I am brand new at this, but it seems that what we need is a place to plug in and focus. . . anything else?
